Default new here and have a question

Hello everyone. I am Lacy and I have a beautiful 5 month old baby boy, Callum. I have been exclusively breatsfeeding him. My question is about birth control. I have been taking the mini pill micronor for about 6 weeks now. The doctor said that this is safe while breastfeeding. My concern, though, is about the hormones causing harm to my baby. I know I have already been taking it for 6 weeks and it makes me feel awful for just now questioning how safe it really is. Does any one know what LLL stand is for progesterin (sp?) only mini pills like micronor? Do you take the mini pill or do you have any concerns about it's safety for your baby like I do? My fiance and I have been talking about it but I'm just not sure what I should do... keep taking it since I've been taking it so long any way, or stop now.... Ahh, so confused! Any input/help is appreciated!

My doctor put me on the same thing. She says that it is safe for the baby - the other type of pill with estrogen is not.

I have also heard/read that the amount of medication that would get to your baby via breastmilk is minimal - so minimal that it would almost be undetectable...but if you are really worried about it, you could take your pill right after nursing your baby and that way, it will have worked its way through your system by the next time he wants to nurse.

I think the main worry with the mini pill is the possibility of decreased supply in some mamas. If your supply has been unaffected during the past 6 weeks, it's probably fine.

Everything has it's risk, only you can weigh the benefits against them. Try these links from Dr. Hale, they may help answer your questions.
