I have had several ups and downs, but I love breast feeding. I LOVE holding my little guy and having him curl up around me and make little happy sounds when he is eating. I love having him pat my breast and play with my shirt. I love it when he is finished and makes a contented smacking noise. I love how he falls asleep in my arms and how great it feels that he feels so safe that he can fall asleep. We have had our ups and downs and there are still frustrations at times, but I am so glad that I have kept at it. I was seriously going to give up when we were first starting out because it was so difficult, but I don't have any thoughts of stopping any time soon. And I have always felt weird about nursing a toddler, but now I keep thinking how hard it will be to wean him. So weird because I have always had issues with the thought of breast feeding a baby who can lift up my shirt himself. The awesome thing is DH is totally supportive of whatever length I want to nurse. He wants me to nurse at least until he is 6 months old to give him the best healthy start we can, and he would totally be supportive of me nursing until he is a toddler as well. His mom nursed her kids for at least one year, and longer when she could. He also lived in Argentina for awhile and breast feeding is very normal to do until kids are preschool age.
I wanted to thank all of you who have been so helpful because without your help, I am pretty sure I may have given up sooner, which would have been so sad to miss out on such a wonderful thing I get to share with my son.
