    Default Test for lipase?

    Hello ladies,

I have been pumping for a while now but exclusively BF. I am freezing the milk to donate and for when I have to go back to work. I have a pretty decent stash, but I am worried that I might have excessive lipase and that my baby will not drink the milk that I have frozen.

My question is: Should I go ahead and test what I have already frozen to see if I have that problem in order to start scalding from now on?

    What do you think???

    Thanks,

Sure - if you're worried about it, why not?

Did something happen to make you wonder?

    Hello,

No, nothing has happened, but since I have been reading about it I realized that I don't want o pump so much, store it, and then not be able to use it since I will be going back to work in 6 weeks. I am dreading it...

    Thanks for responding.

The fastest way to check would be to pump an ounce or so, put it in the fridge and then taste a little bit every day. My milk doesn't last 48 hours in the fridge.

    Absolutely this.

And yes - if you're concerned you might have an issue, test it now! I didn't - and then I cried when I had to toss my stash because my LO wouldn't eat it.

(Mind, it's still fine to drink if your LO will, but not all LOs will.)

Thanks ladies. That was my concern, saving and then not being able to use it. I will test to be sure.
