I love teff and eat it regularly as a breakfast porridge. I also think it has such a great nutritional profile - lots of iron, plus it's a complete protein - that I might like to use as a first cereal when the time comes. Here's what occurred to me today, though: would baby's system be able to break it down enough to get at all that great nutrition?
I know that, especially early on, a lot of stuff just sort of passes through mostly intact. Teff is so tiny (smaller than poppy seeds, for anyone unfamiliar) that I'm not sure a blender would really even break the grains up that much (though I haven't tested yet - might be pleasantly surprised).
Anyone have any thoughts?
