Baby Led Weaning: is it over?

Hello ladies. My little guy is 14 months. When he turned 1, I decided I was going to stop pumping at work and just see what happens, and not offer unless he wanted to nurse. At first we were still...

Re: To wean or not to wean...

Because my day time supply is suffering the most, and he is getting super frustrated trying to get milk. Will he eventually just give up those sessions on his own if he is never getting enough milk...

Re: To wean or not to wean...

So I just attempted to put my son down for a nap without nursing. Didn't go as well as id hoped. He cried very hard. He doesn't get bottles before naps when sitters are with him. Ugh. I hate making...

Re: To wean or not to wean...

Oh, his father and I have also thought maybe his night waking is due to the cold weather coming in. He likes to take his socks off at night and we think he is waking up cold, and maybe it is...

Re: To wean or not to wean...

Krystine that made me smile. So cute. Thanks ladies. That does help a lot. I go back and forth with wondering how he will do. But he is at our homse during my work day with family, and he naps...

To wean or not to wean...

Ladies I am feeling incredibly torn. I had every intention of doing a 'baby-led' weaning but I don't think my supply is up for the challange. My little guy will be 1 on Halloween, and he is nursing...

    Re: Late Start help

I am pretty sure one of the things she was told to do was get some rest... as my mother told me she hasn't been sleeping much because she was worried about how much or how little he was nursing. And...

    Re: Late Start help

Also - she is always giving him a bottle of pumped milk if she is unsuccessful with nursing. Always after attempting to nurse. And I already had told her to try pumping until she lets down and then...

    Re: Late Start help

I apologize, I should have clarified: he IS a normal and healthy baby... now. The docs are CONVINCED that the shock of how he had to be delivered was the only thing that caused him to need cpr, he...

Re: ladies... please help. im desperate.

We used to cosleep but we only have a full sized bed so the older he gets the harder it is for all of us. Plus he is waaaaaay too much of a mover for me to feel ok about it now. We have tried...

Re: ladies... please help. im desperate.

I am not scalding as I said in my post we tried freshly pumped milk and got the same reaction. So I don't think its that necessarily. But I was thinking if I added something to it that it might make...

    ladies... please help. im desperate.

Logan is 9 months. It has been AT LEAST 2 months since he has drank any breast milk while I'm at work. We have tried everything. Different bottles, sippies, water bottles, normal cups, hot milk, cold...
  16. Re: bottle refusal... not in the way youd think.

I think it is more than a lipase issue. Since I have been putting milk straight into the fridge and he is even refusing most of that. He will drink an ounce or so but nothing more. One of my care...
  17. Re: bottle refusal... not in the way youd think.

Yes! It doesn't taste rancid but it does not taste good. I would describe a more metallic taste than soapy. And just to be sure I have tried my freshly pumped milk and it tastes ok. It only tastes ok...
  18. Re: bottle refusal... not in the way youd think.

I hope this is what Logan is going through! He has not yet cut teeth but he has been very clingy and fussy the past few days. We were thinking about trying to widen the holes on the nipples of his...
  19. Re: bottle refusal... not in the way youd think.

My concern about scalding is that it may destroy so many of the protective components in the milk and nutrients as well... I don't know much about it. But he is refusing more than an ounce at a time...
  20. Re: bottle refusal... not in the way youd think.

I should add a PS. We did a little experiment which seems to help a little. Instead of giving him the oldest milk in the freezer, I put fresh pumped milk right into the fridge, and used a frozen bag...
  21. Re: bottle refusal... not in the way youd think.

From everything I have read about lipase, I don't think scalding will work seeing as the enzyme starts to break down the fat upon cooling of the milk, and seeing as how I am pumping and storing it in...
  22. Re: bottle refusal... not in the way youd think.

I had my other caregiver try that today. He refused. He started on a bottle when i went back to work at 6 weeks and has done fine with it up until a few weeks ago. So its not the bottle itself it...
  23. bottle refusal... not in the way youd think.

My little guy is 7.5 mos. He's been eating solids for a while now. He's eating 3 solid meals a day. Per dr order. I nurse him before his meals when I am home, and before naps as well as on demand....

    Re: concerns...

Distractable baby. That's exactly what it is! Right now Logans father can't even be in the room when he's nursing now! Cause hell just stare at him. He's just over 4 months so he fits into the age...

    Re: concerns...

If I offer him the second he does the same thing. He eats steadily for a minute or so after let down and then starts to repeat the process. I don't think it's OALD because as far as I can tell I...
