    Re: Pacifier or no pacifier?

I understand it's more of a concern after a child's 2nd birthday. Also, it really depends upon how much they're using the pacifier.

Oh good....here's a good link from the ADA:...

    Re: on demand?

Sucking on his fist could mean many things. The first thing I thought of was that he was hungry, but it doesn't always mean that for all babies. Remember that around 6-7 weeks, though, that many...

    Re: Tri-Vi-Sol with Iron

I live in Michigan, and never gave the drops, nor were they recommended to me. My personal belief on giving vitamins to a breastfed baby is that a deficiency needs to be proven.

Re: 3mo-old still eating every two hours...?

None of my kids (my twins were FF) could go longer than about 2 hours between feedings for a long time, except at night. Sorry I don't have any suggestions for you! :hug

Re: Gagging on solids at 9.5 months?

My twins gagged on anything more solid than 2nd foods until they were about 15 mos old. Some kids are just more sensitive to textures.

In your case, though, because of the feeding issue, maybe...
  6. Re: Ped wants me to supplement 10 month old with formula

All 3 of my kids were 75th percentile or above in their first 6 mos. After 6 mos, every one of them dropped below the 50th for weight. Totally common. At least in my family. :lol

Re: Baby poop smells like vinegar??

My DS's poo when he was breastfed always smelled vinegar-y, kinda like mustard. :shrug Seems normal to me....
  8. Re: Ped wants me to supplement 10 month old with formula

I would trust your instincts, mama. How do you feel she is doing? It sounds to me like you think she's a healthy, thriving baby. Then she probably is! Is she steadily gaining and growing? All 3...

    Re: how to night wean?

You have to decide if you're truly done. If you refuse, then give in, it sends a mixed message, and makes it harder in the end, IMO. For us, the night nursing sessions were the hardest to give up. ...

Re: I have an interesting question

I have to start out by saying that I'm a moderate. I don't usually get too riled up about the media hype about things. There are many, many children that have used plastic bottles and are fine. ...
  12. Re: How much meat does/did your 1 year old eat a day?

None of my kids have been meat eaters, really. They all loathe red meat of any kind, and hardly eat any chicken, either.

I was at a twins club meeting recently, and there was a pediatrician that...

Re: watery poop - is it normal?

Is she acting sick? I'd be more concerned about that than anything else. If she's acting normally, then she's probably fine. :gvibes

Of course, always trust your instincts. If you're not sure,...

Re: Vitamin D for my bf lo?

We live in Michigan. Our peds never even brought it up. :shrug That suggests to me that it isn't a HUGE problem.

You're more at risk for Vit D deficiency if you are a dark-skinned person. ...

:ita When I posted yesterday, I didn't take the time to spell out both sides. Just wanted to say that your instincts are worth more than the "experts", in my opinion. I have done some things that...

    Re: Confused about co-sleeping

There is a lot of controversial information out there about co-sleeping. The American Academy of Pediatrics' position is that babies should sleep in their own beds/cribs and be placed on their backs...

    Re: We're night weaning...need support

Of course you're not a bad mama. I know it's hard to make changes, but your baby will adjust...he already has!

I didn't have a whole lot of help from my DH, either. In our situation, though, DS...

    Re: Need Advice!!

You've already gotten some good advice about weaning.

I wanted to address your feelings of needing to get out. What about some sort of parents' group? Some churches have them (Mom's morning...

Re: BTDT -- Someone PLEASE remind me!

I'm not trying to one-up anyone, but I TOTALLY know what sleep deprivation is. I had twins first. About the time I felt like I couldn't go on, it got easier. Now, I should say that I didn't NURSE...

    Re: Is burping always necessary?

You'll know if burping is necessary. Your babe will either wake up fussy, or they'll spit up a bunch.

I used to do the gentle burping with my son, where I'd just put him on my shoulder and...

    Re: signs breast is empty

I'm not sure how to answer....is your baby acting hungry after he's done with the first breast? That's how I know that he's "finished" it. Of course, breasts are never truly empty...there's always...

Is there a reason that you need his milk room temperature? Just curious....at a year old, warming isn't necessary. If your child prefers it, you could take the chill off by running the cup under...
