  1. Re: Snacking vs. meals - not getting enough hindmilk?

Thanks so much, everyone! I have been waiting 2-3 hours before offering another feeding to him and he seems to be much happier with this arrangement! I'm glad to know, though, that your little ones...

Awesome! You SHOULD feel great! :)
  3. Snacking vs. meals - not getting enough hindmilk?

So, I tallied up the average number of times my 5-month-old nurses - it is something like 15 times in 24 hours! The reason I even counted is because lately, he has seemed uninterested in nursing when...

    Re: Down the road...

My baby is 4 months old now and I definitely remember being in the place you're describing. I had a lot of physical pain recovering from labor & delivery and was uncomfortable in EVERY single...

    Re: Suggestions on comfort nursing

I was terribly scared for our 2-month shots - my sister even came along with us for moral support! And you know what? My son barely cried at all! It might be really different for your little one, of...

    Re: Co-sleeping mommies..question for you!

I use the Motherwear sleep bras too - one of the cheapest things on their site and perfect for those, like me and the PP, who like to go sans bra in the house but get super leaky without. I'm barely...

    Re: eating enough!??!

My son is almost 12 weeks and just started doing the same thing over this past weekend! He used to take 45 minutes to eat and almost always accept the breast, so I was a little freaked out...until I...

Re: Making my way through motherhood.

Um, YEAH! I know what you mean. When the stupid advice comes from strangers or acquaintances, it doesn't really bug me - most of the time I find it amusing, actually. It is harder for me when it...

Re: Pumping while my nipples heal - nervous!

I just wanted to update with my happy ending - we have been back to almost exclusively breastfeeding for a month now, since my baby has decided to refuse both bottle and pacifier! Supply seems fine...
  10. Re: Friend's 2 week old: cracked nipples yet perfect latch - help!

Has the baby been checked for tongue-tie? I had the same situation with injury to my nipples despite good latch, and it took a while to sort out the issue, because he was able to transfer milk so...

Re: When does it get easier?

With my baby at 6.5 weeks, I really know what you mean! He just hit a growth spurt and I was so worried about my breasts feeling soft and "empty" all the time. Then today, he slept for a long stretch...

Re: Help! Why won't he sleep?!

Um, I could have written the exact same post!! After being pretty easy to please for the first 6 weeks, being easily comforted in our arms and so on, our little one has turned almost completely...

    Re: nipple strike??

Hi there, I'm also a first-time mom with a 6-week-old. I saw your post and was hoping that someone more experienced than me would be able to help, but I see that the board is still stumped! So I just...

    Re: challanges with bottle

Our baby seems to be mostly okay with the Breastflow bottles that are supposed to allow the baby to mimic the actions of nursing. I got them at my local Babies R Us store, something like US$12 for...

    Re: Household Cleaners and Breastfeeding

I just wanted to add that it is also easy to make your own non-toxic household cleaners from stuff you probably already have on hand, like vinegar, baking soda, and plain old soap. There are some...

Re: Need help badly ... too early to call??

First of all good for you getting help, I was in great pain the first week but chalked it up to my nipples toughening up - by the time I got help the damage was done. If the LL leader can't come to...

    Re: Feeding her all day

My baby (4.5 weeks) does this for days at a time. The longest stretch was 14 hours, virtually constant. I had had 2 hours of sleep in the prior 24 hours and was so tired I cried! I'm still trying to...
  18. Re: Okay, what does "not supposed to hurt" ACTUALLY mean?

Thank you SO MUCH, everyone. Seriously, just knowing that this is normal helped me enormously today. The sensitivity does seem to be lessening just a little as I add nursing sessions. Most...
  19. Okay, what does "not supposed to hurt" ACTUALLY mean?

I'm getting a little discouraged - at 4.5 weeks my nipples are still painful. A little background, I have had my latch evaluated by a wonderful LC, seen my OB for a prescription antibiotic cream, and...

Re: Is it supposed to hurt this much?

Has your baby been evaluated for tongue-tie, high palette, etc.? The area where your nipples are cracked may give a hint. If it is the area where the lower part of the baby's mouth touches the...

    Upper frenum question

Re: Pumping while my nipples heal - nervous!

Good news! We got a great latch this morning - I pumped just a little and fed him a bit first so he wasn't starving, and then put him on the faster-healing side, After a few initial minutes when I...

Re: Pumping while my nipples heal - nervous!

Thanks, everyone! I did end up getting a prescription-strength cream (safe to use while nursing/pumping) and am starting to heal a bit faster. I am really hoping to be able to nurse again tomorrow....
