    Re: Random BLS rambles

There are some awesome pictures in the Baby Led Weaning group on Facebook, I posted some of my best there.

The funny thing is, my dear child is messier at two years old than she was self feeding...

Made it to 2, ready to wind it up

We made it to 2, and educated some family members along the way. The hard thing for me is she has suddenly become MORE, not less, into the boob. I try making sure we have lots of nonboob related...

Re: You know you're nursing a toddler when...

...she is lying in your lap but won't nurse until you get at least two of the "babies" she is pointing to so she can cuddle them (and shove them in your mouth) while nursing.
  4. not understanding how it works after all this time...

So my daughter is nearly 17 months and we are still nursing. most days she prefers nursing to whole milk during the day, but i do offer both.

We have a family crisis coming up,, my grandmother...

Re: enough milk after pump weaning

    You're doing great...

One way we got my girl to take cow milk was mixing it with whole fat yogurt, nearly half and half.. I guess it was a milk smoothie, ha.

    Re: Allergenic foods?

Apples were one of my kids early food, before she had any teeth! I skinned 'em, but she just scraped the apple with her gums and made instant applesauce.

    Re: Allergenic foods?

Keep an eye on him, and if he shows no allergy symptoms then I wouldn't worry any longer.

Yes, they have changed the recommendations. Don't have link on me, but do have the new edition of the AAP...

Re: One and the road to self-weaning

As was mentioned previously, it really is up to you. At my house, my daughter dropped feedings until we got down to 4, and at 16 months we are actually back up to about 8 (depending on the day). I...

Re: when to introduce almond butter?

Almond butter was an early favorite here, and we did it around 7 months, on toast.

Unless you have a reason to suspect allergies, there is no reason to delay allergenic foods. Even at that,...

Re: Should I take MIL serious?

Only scanned other replies, but wanted to add that the AAP recommends allowing babies to self regulate their intake until around 3... At this age you will always always feed breastmilk first, but...

Poll: Re: Transition from breastmilk to cow's milk

We just offered cow's milk at about 11 months. We had been supplementing about one formula bottle a day because I wasn't keeping up with pumping at work (and in the morning and twice in the evening)....

    Re: Sugar

Other than the sugars in fruit, my girl didn't have any sweets until her first birthday. That was a luscious chocolate pear cake made by a mom who does all whole food good ingredients - so she did...
  14. Re: Made it to a year...can I PLEASE pump wean now?

Without even reading the other replies, which I am sure are all supportive, let me just say YES!! I felt guilty at first, and actually stopped and started pumping a few times over a couple of weeks -...

Re: whole fat yogurt vs low fat yogurt

You said you add stuff to the plain, have you ever tried JUST the plain? The greek yogurt is a little twangy in my opinion, but we do great with the Stonyfield brand of full fat plain yogurt. She...

Re: The Great Solid Food Debate

Gut development is the primary reason to wait until six months (or close too at least). Other developmental signs already noted prior are important as well, but your pedi saying people are "full of...

What everyone is telling you is great - and it has been working for us. I stopped pumping at a year, and when we are together she nurses A LOT (on my lap right now), on the days I work she doesn't...

Gagging is a part of the learning process when you are doing baby led, IMO. They are learning all about textures and chewing and swallowing, and eventually some goes down - but they also learn what...
