Re: What type of pump for a working mom?

:ita I used the Medela PISA for 16 months with DD2. I left my old Medela at home JIC (from DD1). I really liked having two and being able to leave the PISA at the office b/c taking it home would...

Re: What to ask the surgeon?!

I had surgery twice while BF - I got a list of meds given and checked them for safety while BF'ing - all was good. I nursed after surgery.

ETA. My DD was older, though - over 1 year.

    Re: ? on home scales

no - 16 oz in a lb and the .6 part of the scale means 6/10 of a pound, not ounces. Actually .6 lb would be 9.6 oz - give or take :)
  6. Re: Need responses for New Beginnings Magazine re: pumping!

sent you an email - basically, I stopped pumping when DD2 was 16 months, but she just recently weaned at 39 months :)

Re: Weaning my almost 3 yo

interesting tid bit. I retained an extra 10 or so lbs since having DD2. In the past week (almost 2) that she's not been nursing, I've lost about 3-4 lbs. I was wondering if this would happen - I'm...

Re: Weaning my almost 3 yo

I've thought about this and I feel like it's time for us to be done. So, if she does ask again, I will tell her no more milk and grab a book to read :lol
  9. Sticky: Re: Scalding breastmilk due to excessive Lipase

According to my DH, yes - cooling too slowly allows for more bacterial growth. Please do not quote me on that, though - I just trusted him and did not research it.

ETA. This was his reasoning - I...
  10. Sticky: Re: Scalding breastmilk due to excessive Lipase

I can't answer the first part - I scalded directly in pan and used thermometer to get right temp. I can answer the cooling part, though - cool rapidly - I put the pan in ice water to cool it down. ...

Re: Weaning my almost 3 yo

I think we've done it. DD2 is 39 months and has not nursed in over a week now. She started preferring to read before bed. Naps on weekends were a bit more difficult, but we had our first with...
  13. Re: could suddenly sleeping through the night mean he's not getting enough?

As I recall, both my girls really took to STTN at that age, too. Perhaps your DS is getting more per nursing session during the day - as nurslings definitely get more efficient at maximum intake...
  14. Re: Anyone else still use a boppy or pillows?

I win - I still use one with my 3 year old when nursing before bed. It's used strictly for underneath her, though. It's more firm than a bed pillow and works well for us - comfortable in the chair...

If they have any pets, you may offer to help take care of them so they can focus on the baby and being at the hospital a lot. :hug

Re: she fell off the charts...

My DD1 is a petite one, too. She never fell off the charts, but has been riding the 5-10% curve since about 15 months (she's 5 yrs old now). Ped never said a word - I never asked - I knew she...

  19. Re: reastfeeding Moms who pump for Daycare-Help please

I stopped pumping when DD2 was 16 months.

ETA. I nursed 3-4 times per day on her daycare days at that age - morning, after school, 1-2 times bedtime.
  20. Re: Hi.New here. Are breastfed babies...

We are similar to PP. Both my BF girls were 19-20 lbs at a year. Now, however, genes are kicking in, and at 23 months apart, they are close to the same weight. I'm having a hard time with this as...

  23. Re: Need Detailed Instructions on Testing for Lipase

:ita Never had a problem with DD1. DD2 actually ate the cereal, but I was confused by the smell and stopped her from eating it.
  24. Re: Need Detailed Instructions on Testing for Lipase

Some women describe a soapy or metallic smell with theirs. I didn't have to taste it, the smell was so way off (and in my case BAD) that I tossed it immediately.

ETA. I'd never heard of this...
  25. Re: Need Detailed Instructions on Testing for Lipase

Mine spelled like vomit when I got some out to mix with cereal :gross

ETA. It's trial and error on how long you have. Mine would stay good in fridge for at least 3 days, but frozen for a week or...
