    Re: spelt, corn

Both spelt and corn can be introed after 12 months, like wheat.

Out of the 3, I'd pick spelt as it's more nutritious and easier to digest. Corn doesn't have much nutritional value.
  2. Re: What veggies do you feed you little one?

Raw can be much harder to digest. Frozen actually still contain a lot of nutrients as they are frozen so fast after picking, within hours, whereas fresh veg is probably at least a few days old when...

    yeast smelling poo

DS just did a poo that smelt like yeast. He used to do this a lot when newborn, but he hasn't done one for ages. It was a bit runnier than normal too.

    Is it significant?

    Re: Winter veg finger food

Had to google those for the "English" translation! Swede and turnip. I'm not too keen on swede and I can't get hold of turnips!

Must get sme frozen spinach - good idea. And I'll try peas too.

    Winter veg finger food

I'd like to increase the variety of vegetables we feed DS. We tend to eat seasonal veg, so I'm a bit stuck for what else to do.

    He has:
roast finger/wedges of potato (sweet and white), carrots,...

    Re: please help!! very confused.

    1. We did baby led solids, so DS has never had purees - his favourite thing at the start was steamed broccoli florets. Cut things to the same size and shape as your little finger and cook until soft...
  8. Re: Never ending problems with solids.. allergy??

My son is allergic to dairy - he has diarrhea, red ring, nappy rash and eczema from dairy.

I do not eat any dairy now. It is important to avoid it as the allergens are passed on through your milk....

Re: Honey - when is it ok?

You should not give honey or anything sontaining honey until after one as the botulism spores are only killed at a very high temperature - even commercial products may not be cooked hot enough to...

    :nak - sorry it's short.

    Re: ideas for "finger" foods

I don't know what you call them in the US, or even if they have a different name, but DS loves kidney beans and cannelini beans. I think blackeye beans are probably too small.

    I buy them dry and...
  14. Re: Snacking vs. meals - not getting enough hindmilk?

Does he get upset when nursing straight away? If it's a little way into a feed, maybe he's just full. Older babies feed very efficiently so it doesn't take long for them to have enough.

    As PP...

    Re: Need ideas for 10-month-old

i do enough water to cover it, so it doesn't dry out.
  17. Re: How scared of oranges & potatoes should I be?

    nightshades - potatoes, tomatoes.

I'd worry more about citrus as the acidity can give them tummy/bum problems. raw tomatoes can too.

DS loves potatoes (he's also 10 months - 5 days older than...

I give DS tofu cubed straight out of the packet, add it to his pasta sauces, or grill or fry cubes of it. You can mash it to add to avocado and rice balls. Anything really!

    Re: Still Strictly BF'ing--Start Solids?

DS was 6.5 months too. We were/are doing BLW so we were waiting for him to sit by himself, which he did at 6 months. But then we all got flu, so we waited until we were all better.

    There really is...

Re: I have a poop question, too

    Is he drinking well?

Has he had a virus? My DS got constipated after a virus.

    You could also try:
    bicycling his legs
massaging his tummy in a circle around his navel
    sitting him in a warm...

    Re: What about water?

I wouldn't give DS bottled water as it's too high in salt. I love our tap water to drink - much nicer than bottled.

DS is 10 months and he's never drunk water, though. He nurses a lot, so just BF...

Re: 8-Month Old Baby's Troubles With Pureés

Until they are about a year or more babies do not associate solids with hunger. They get hungry, they want milk. Solids are about play. You might find he wants to nurse more, that's all.

    I...
