    Re: Is she getting enough?

She's still having enough wet diapers, so it sounds like maybe she's just getting more effcient at nursing from the breast.

However, it certainly can't hurt to cut back a little on solids until...

Re: 8 month old not eating well

I would argue that it is not nessacarily better than water, which is also an alternative beverage. Also, I have been weaned for well over 20 years and I do not drink cow's milk.

    The nutritional...

Re: 9.5 month tough with new foods

Are you spoon feeding him? Maybe try letting him self-feed so he feels more independant and less pressured. Playing with and exploring the food at his own pace will probalby really help. :)

    Re: Rice Cereal

It won't work. Solids just don't make a baby sleep. My son is almost 18 mo and eating 3 solid meals and 3 snacks in addtion to bf (though my milk supply is really low now due to pregnacy), and he...

Re: 8 month old not eating well

Why would he want a bf todler to be drinking cow's milk in additon? So long as the tolder is nursing at least 3-4 times in 24 hours, he doesn't need any other source of fat, protien, or...

Re: 8 month old not eating well

I agree with Mommie of 2, except I think formula fed babies should also recieve formula before solids, since fomrula (though vastly inferior to breastmilk) still has more nutrition than solids and...

Re: 8 month old not eating well

Teething could definately be an issue.

You might want to cut back on the solids to see if that makes him more hungry for the breastmilk. Also, it would help with the constipation as pretty much...

    Re: Introducing Cereal/solids

Why would you spoon feed a liquid? When ds started solids (and he did start quite early; he was only 4 mo), he liked the cereal good and thick. Just one tablespoon of cereal, of course, but only...

Re: 8 month old not eating well

Have you tried a sippy, a straw, a regular cup?

How many hours is he at daycare? How many times does he nurse while you are at home? How are his wet diapers? How are his poops (ie still soft or...

    Re: Pumping?

2 oz is actually very normal. There's a great page at kellymom.com on pumping and what is normal. 4-9 oz, btw is not normal; that's a whole lot of milk to be pumping in a single session! Here is...
  11. Re: should I be concerned 11 mo feeding issues

    ITA! :)

Why worry? Honestly, she's still bf 4 times, so I wouldn't bother even offering fomrula in additon. She only needs to nurse 3-4 times in 24 hours to get all the fat, protien, and...

    Re: goat's yogurt

I would think that goat's milk yogurt would be ok at the same time cow's milk yogurt would be ok. Some sources say 6 mo, others say 9 mo, othres say wait until at least 12 mo. I know ds started...

    Re: rice cereal allergies

Yes, it is possible to be allergic to rice. Stop feeding her the rice and see if the symptoms go away.

I would suggest not starting any other foods for at least a few days and at least until the...

    Re: solids vs. formula

    darleen,
30 oz is still within the normal range (20-30 oz), so I would say you are not overfeeding. Have you read the info at this link http://www.kellymom.com/bf/pumping/pumping_decrease.html ? I...
  15. Re: Illness, and milk supply dropping since then

I'm sorry you are so stressed out right now. Yes, illness and stress can both lead to decreased milk supply, but as milk supply works on supply and demand, this problem is very fixable. :) How are...

Re: Can you overfeed with pumped bottles?

Of course, it is very easy to overfeed with a bottle. This has led many pumping moms to feel their supply is inadiquate, when really baby is just drinking the bottle because it is there. 5-6 oz is...

You mentioned before that you pump 8 times a day...how much milk is he drinking in 24 hours? The average milk intake for a breastfed baby is 25 oz in 24 hours.

Re: making your own brown rice baby food

How old is your baby? I think most babies who are old enough to use a spoon should be able to handle regular cooked oatmeal without any mashing. ;)

As for rice, why not just cook it and offer...

    Re: solids vs. formula

Formula is definately the better option at this point. Solids should not start to take the place of breastmilk until much closer to 12 mo. When you do start solids, it's best to start very slow...

Re: 8 month old solid food intake

If baby seems hungry at this stage, I would strongly recomend nursing more as upposed to offering more solids. Breastmilk oz for oz contains more calories and far more fat that nearly all solid...

    Re: dairy products

The cream cheese should be fine, especally since it's such a small amount. So long as he's nursing at least 4 times a day, he's getting all the fat he needs that way.

The milk you may want to...

I say nurse baby right before you leave and for just 3-4 hours, 3 oz will probably be enough, 4 oz would be plenty. :) Just be sure you're using the slowest flow newborn nipple so baby doesn't gulp...

    Re: Supplementing

Yes, this. It's fine to give some formula if baby needs it, but don't actually mix it with the breastmilk. Offer them separeately, and the breastmilk first.

What is a "full bottle" for you?
