    Re: Recommend your breastpump

Medela is not the end all be all breast pump everyone thinks they are. There are perfectly good pumps well under $200.

I keep hearing about Hygeia being good pumps. Might be worth trying out.

    Re: Questions about Ameda Pump....

I agree with manatee. Try just pumping the low producing side with various levels of suction and/or speed. Is it engorged? Does your child empty the breast when directly feeding?

    Re: Ameda reducing insert seal

Try wrapping a small rubber band around the insert and then sticking it in. Might help it seal better.
  8. Re: Back to work - low supply - Dr. gave me Reglan?

I'm not much of an advocate of medication for upping your production. I would try everything under the sun before going that route.

    Re: When To Start Pumping?

I agree with waiting a bit. Unless you start to notice your supply decreasing, you should totally go exclusive breastfeeding as long as you can. It's better for bonding with your little one, and like...
  10. Re: Not pumping well and don't want to supplement--any advice?

Have you tried using different techniques as far as starting with slow cycle speed and high suction, then shifting to a quicker cycle and lowering the suction. Different people require different...

Re: Safe to buy a used breastpump?

After talking to my friends mother, who is a lactation consultant, I wouldn't take chances with a used breast pump. Even if you are getting it from someone you know it can still be unsanitary without...

    Re: Favorite storage bag??

I used these breastmilk freezer bags with my Purely Yours, but I'm sure they would work just fine with any other pump. It is very easy to transfer to a bottle with these bags, and they seal really...

Re: Best pump for occasional use?

Depends on how much you want to spend. You can get an Ameda Purely Yours for around $150, and they are very comfortable, and work well also. A manual pump might work for you also. They are much...

    Re: PIS vs. Freestyle?

I would seriously consider going with an Ameda pump. They are closed-system pumps, and work just as well as Medela, if not better. Ameda is much safer for your baby. I use the Ameda Purely Yours with...

Re: Pumping at work - some questions

I would say that looks like a good amount. Each child is different though. Just do the best you can.

Re: Second pump for at home

I have had great success with my Ameda Purely Yours. I can't see spending $300+ on a Medela. Especially since they aren't closed-system breast pumps.
