Re: 19 day old umbilical cord?

I only have experience with one baby, but my son's stump didn't fall off (with some prodding) until he was 21 days old. The pediatrician looked at it at 2 weeks and said it was just fairly deep and...
  2. Re: Sensitivity to milk but not other dairy

Yes! My son didn't have the extreme reaction that your daughter has, but I noticed that I could eat anything dairy except milk when he was around that age. If I had straight milk, he spit up a lot.

Re: Was I starving my son?

Thanks, amysmom. I like your comparison to the Mona Lisa! My son has always been a happy, laid-back kind of guy who was small but met milestones, sometimes early. He was just small until he started...

Re: Was I starving my son?

Thanks for your feedback. I guess, in my heart, I know I did the right thing, but it's so easy to second-guess yourself, especially where breastfeeding is concerned. I really appreciate both of you...

    Was I starving my son?

Let me begin with an apology. This might be long.

My son is an active, intelligent, all-around wonderful 19 month old who loves solids and still nurses 2 times per day. But we had a rough start to...
  6. Re: needing a little more answers :)

In the early months of breastfeeding, I stressed about that, too. My son is now 18 months, though, and I've never felt the milk letdown. The only way I've ever known it happened was to watch the...
  7. Re: Weight gain issue please please help!

First, congratulations on making it this far! 5.5 months is nothing to sneeze at when it's been a rough road!

I was mildly obsessed with my son's weight when he was that young. At 4 months, he...

Re: Bogus Failure To Thrive Diagnoses.

That is just crazy. As the mom of a 17 month old who has always struggled to stay on the charts (and for several months didn't actually make it!), my heart goes out to you. It's terrible to be told...
  9. Re: why do some babies sleep at breast?

I have no answer for you, but I wanted to say that you aren't alone. My son (who is now 16 months and still breastfeeding) was one of those babies who fell asleep EVERY time I put him to the breast...

Re: Babies who aren't big eaters?

I can sort of relate. My guy (who is now 16 months and still breastfeeding a few times per day) has never been that interested in nursing. Unlike your baby, though, mine has always been pretty small....

Re: Plugged Duct at 13.5 Mos

The same thing happened to me at around 13 months. It took a while for the white spot to go away, but it was more of a visual annoyance than an actual pain most of that time. Mommal's advice is a big...

Re: advice wanted - slow weight gain

I agree with what the previous posts say. My son fell off the weight chart at one point. (He started in the 5th percentile, though, so he didn't have far to go!) By 12 months, he'd made it back to...

Re: my nipple has an oucy!

Yes. Definitely sounds like a bleb. I had my first one when my son was about 13 months, following a recurring plugged duct. They sure do hurt and can stick around for a while. There's good...

Re: Back again for bleb help

Thanks for the advice. The bleb seems better now, although I do still have a small callous that doesn't hurt. I will keep that in mind for future help if, heaven forbid, this happens again!
  15. Re: Perhaps a silly question about a yeast infection

Ok. I'll pass that on to her. Being extra careful can't hurt anything. Thanks!
  16. Re: Perhaps a silly question about a yeast infection

    Good to know! Thanks!
  17. Perhaps a silly question about a yeast infection

I'm posting for my sister-in-law again. Her 3 month old has been diagnosed with a yeast infection rash on her neck. Can this be spread to my sister-in-law's nipples and cause thrush? This might be a...

Re: Back again for bleb help

He is trying to get another tooth to break through up top and has been for a few weeks (which is how long I've been battling this), so I guess that might be the cause. I've been trying to massage the...

Re: Back again for bleb help

Ugh! My nipple seems better since pulling off the scab, but now that duct is plugged again, which is what started this whole mess! What's going on? I don't think anything's changed in terms of his...

Re: Back again for bleb help

Thanks for the responses. Things are currently better. I got tired of looking at the white spot last night and pulled it off. I guess it was a scab (or callous) of sorts. The milk behind it was...

    Back again for bleb help

I posted a few weeks ago because of a plugged duct and suspected bleb. After some discussion, I thought maybe it was actually thrush I was battling, not a bleb. However, I'm back to thinking it's a...
  22. Re: 2 Month old feeding every 4 hours?

Thanks for the link. I might just send it to her. I don't want to seem too pushy, but I did emphasize the minimum of 8 times when I sent her a message just now. She really wants to succeed at...
  23. Re: 2 Month old feeding every 4 hours?

I'm afraid she's more of a "schedule person," but I'll suggest that. She did ask for my opinion, after all! I was never in this situation. My sleepy baby didn't wake himself up to eat until after 2.5...
  24. 2 Month old feeding every 4 hours?

I'm posting for my sister-in-law this time. She comes to me for breastfeeding advice, and so far I've felt comfortable giving her answers, but I don't want to go against her pediatrician's suggestion...
