    Discussing weaning with a toddler

How did you talk about weaning with your toddler?
My son is 26 months old, and I want to try one of the ideas in the No-Cry Sleep Solution, which is to make a personalized storybook that helps...

    Picture books about weaning?

My son is 2, and I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good picture books that address the subject of weaning. He's a good eater of table food, and he's drinking cow's milk, water, and juices in...

Re: Nipple pain ... what now?

I'm so glad to find this thread - My boy is about to turn 2 (3 weeks! Yikes!) and BOTH my nipples have been sore for about 2 weeks. The "baby shark" analogy totally fits, and he has all his teeth...

Re: You know you're nursing a toddler when...

...your ABC-song-obsessed toddler pops off, pulls back, stares at your nipple, then looks up at you and starts singing into your nipple like a microphone. :lol

    Spices?

My son just turned one. We did EBF until about 8 months, and then I started introducing solids, starting with sweet potato and things like that. We've done a combination of purees and finger foods....

    Re: Breast pain?

I never thought about it being because I've let him keep nursing on an empty breast! That's certainly a possibility - it's usually in the middle of the night and I'm pretty sure my supply is lower...

    Re: Breast pain?

I wouldn't say cracked and bleeding, although I have had lots of dried milk / milk blisters.
You're right, drinking more water, resting, and eating healthy are always good ideas!

    Breast pain?

I've been having occasional sharp, shooting pain in one or both breasts, usually after nursing my son (just turned 1 year). I'm wondering if it could be thrush, or something else - it's not...

Re: How much solids approaching 1 year?

I'm glad to read this thread - my son will be 12 months this week and we're in almost exactly the same situation. He does all right with purees most of the time, and some self-feeding foods work, but...

Re: Barracuda eater on left breast

My son was a really vigorous nurser in the beginning, and that sounds about like the pain I had for a few weeks. I tried Lansinoh lanolin (awesome), ibuprofen, and warm compresses, which helped until...
  11. Re: Refrigerated milk goes to rm temp- OK to cool again?

I'm curious about this, too - for instance, if my son stays with Grandma and doesn't finish all the milk I've pumped for him?
    So... *bump*

Re: Help! is this a good pump?! LDE

I have the Lansinoh double electric and really like it. Of course, I've never tried any other kind... :) Mine was a Target registry gift, and I chose it based on price and a friend's recommendation....

    Re: Weight loss and BF

I know it must happen differently for everyone... I gained 38 lbs. with my son, dropped 22 within a week (most of that because of the birth, of course), and now have about 5 to go (he's 12 weeks)....

Re: 7 week old crying at breast

My son did this at about the same time, and several people suggested it might have something to do with the growth spurt, like maybe he wanted to eat faster than it would come out. If there is still...

    Re: Advice on nursing supplies

I know everyone says not to buy a pump before the baby is born, but I registered for one and received it as a gift, and that has ended up being really good for us. My husband really wanted to be able...

    Re: Cluster feeding every night??

My son (11 weeks) has gone through phases like that as well, usually in the evening. It seems like I've read that it's pretty common, and as long as they're gaining weight and having a normal number...
  17. Re: Should I switch breasts and how long is too long?

This was my experience, too. My son is 10 weeks old and I don't think he eats for the same length of time for any 2 feedings in a row!

I did notice his sucking pattern would change - now he...

Does anyone have ideas for lower-sugar frosting alternatives? Seems like everybody always has pictures of the birthday kid covered in cake and frosting, and my niece never even made it to the cake -...

    Restless legs while nursing

Sometimes while my son is nursing I get a horrible case of restless legs! It's most often late at night, and when he's been going for a long time and has started to play around a little or make...
  20. Re: 8 week old cries while feeding - supply issue?

    Thanks for all the responses.
I would say 4-5 wet, 1-2 poop per day. We don't have another doctor's appointment until next week, but he's definitely growing out of clothes, so I'm pretty sure his...
  21. Re: 8 week old cries while feeding - supply issue?

Thanks! He's nursing right now and mostly playing around, nibbling, and occasionally crying. No, I'm not on the pill, although I'm due to start the "mini-pill" (progestin-only) soon. Hopefully that...
  22. 8 week old cries while feeding - supply issue?

My son will be 8 weeks old this week, and the last few days he has started crying periodically while nursing. Up to this point we have been doing pretty well, but my breasts don't feel full at all...
