  1. Re: 7 month old waking up every 40mins at night to nurse...

I recommend the book The No-Cry Sleep Solution by Elizabeth Pantley. I loved this book with my 9 year old daughter was a baby and still refer back to it now when my son has problems sleeping.

    Re: A few questions...

Yes, we have been dealing with an overactive letdown. I think that I had an oversupply issue as well. I've been watching his diaper output because he hadn't had enough then went about 12 hours...

    Re: A few questions...

There are times when he's distracted because he's heard a noise but what I'm asking about is when we are in a quiet, dark room with no distractions. He pops off as if to get away only to latch back...

    A few questions...

My son has never ended a nursing session by pushing my nipple out of his mouth. Up until a week or so ago, he was never done nursing. Now, there are times when he seems to be done because he looks...
  6. How do you count wet diapers?

I've never had to count wet diapers before because there was always lots of very full wet diapers. I could change him every hour or two all day and there was always a lot of urine in them. I use...

    Re: so sad...

I agree with what you are saying completely. I didn't mean to imply that this community causes women to fail at breastfeeding. But meant that if someone is close to quitting and is upset, frustrated...

    Re: so sad...

Supplementation effects supply. Doesn't block nursing also effect supply? I didn't see where anyone mentioned (and go on and on about) the risk of a drop in supply if someone block nurses. For an...

For the most part, I agree with everything that is said here. All she did was state that she has had the same problem and told me what worked for her and everyone jumped on her like she had done...

Oh, I didn't think that your reply was harsh at all. You were very helpful. Others were more harsh, in my opinion, mainly because they didn't offer any advice, support, or encouragement, which is...

    Re: so sad...

Thank you. I'm so happy too. He nursed the whole day and stayed happy, for the most part. He got a little fussy toward the end of the day but I think he was tired because he didn't nap much. I got a...

    Re: so sad...

Thank you for the links. I'm sure that they'll help. As far as crying in the car, my little guy used to fall asleep in the car until he was about 2 months old. He started sleeping in the car, instead...

I've been nursing him all day, while reclined, and he still seems to be happy! I ended up looking up information about overactive letdown and read about nursing on one side and block nursing. The LC...

    Re: so sad...

Oh, they help out a little too! The 7 year old puts up a fight when I try to get her to do anything but my 9 year old actually begs to do more. The bulk of the house work gets done by me and the 15...

Thank you for the carrier suggestions and the websites.

    Re: so sad...

My other children are 15, 9, and 7. The 15 year old is autistic but he tries to help out as much as he can. Other than that, I don't have anyone to help me. It's just me and the kids.

Yes he is gaining enough weight. I don't know whether I had a forceful letdown. How would I be able to tell whether I did or not? You mentioned a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance caused by a forceful...

So, I'm writing this mainly because I don't know many people in my life who understand what I'm going through or why I'm so sad. I'm the only person that I know that has breastfed their babies. I...
