I've only had a bleb once, but after I cleared it I started hand expressing just a little in the shower each day as a preventative measure. I have no idea if it's helped me avoid blebs, but it surely...

    Re: Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh

I get the same "oh, he's so small!" comment a lot and it really burns me, because my son is a preemie. He's hitting his milestones beautifully, and is starting to grow taller/skinnier (he grew 3.5...

    Re: Growth Spurt?

I think we're hitting a 4 month growth spurt too...DS has been glued to my boob, and very cranky otherwise. He has been napping more...I just wish more of those naps would take place outside my arms....

    Re: i have a cold...what can i take?

I don't have any answers, but am also suffering from a nasty cold.

DS had it too, but all he had was a little congestion & stuffy nose. All the glop made its way into my chest and I suddenly lost...

    Re: Boppy pillow

I love my boppy....although I'm using it more for things other than nursing right now -- prop him up for play time/tummy time, etc.

I do use it for nursing on days when arms have gotten achy from...

    Re: Loves solids, rejecting breast

zmom -- does he nurse better at night? maybe he just needs a really dark room (less distraction)?
  12. Re: Gnawing on fingers = hunger cue or just oral exploration?

yeah, there's a definite increase in drool -- he's starting to blow spit bubbles (kinda funny).

you really think he's starting to teethe already?? he's only 2 months corrected age...
  13. Re: Gnawing on fingers = hunger cue or just oral exploration?

Yeah, I figured he's probably just enjoying exploring things with his mouth...although sometimes he surprises me and will go back to the breast (like right now, for instance)....
  14. Gnawing on fingers = hunger cue or just oral exploration?

My 3 m.o. DS discovered that he can control his hands last week, and now his hands are CONSTANTLY in his mouth. I'm having a tough time figuring out when he's really hungry vs. just wanting to suck...

Re: gentian violet - oh my!

thrush is a bummer, all right. it's virtually impossible to avoid the mess...I just wore old clothes and did the same for my LO.

Also, do a "full frontal assault" by washing all of your linens...
  18. Re: Help! DS just vomited up an entire feeding!

Well, he's still pretty happy (and eating well) -- his diaper was back to creamy poo this a.m. Chris, sounds like you were right. I think maybe he just guzzled too much too fast this morning and gave...
  19. Help! DS just vomited up an entire feeding!

...and yes,I say vomited because it was forceful (it looked like a fountain!) Holy cow! He completely soaked himself!

He was VERY fussy earlier in the evening, but eventually settled down and went...
  20. Re: I chose my family over my dream job...need support

Funny that you posted this now -- I just got a letter from my employer yesterday stating that they need to know my intentions for the next school year by March 2nd. I'm currently on unpaid leave.

Re: Still hurting - Whats going on?

I had thrush with no visible symptoms -- just nipple pain. Gentian violet did the trick.

I also washed ALL my nursing bras, bed linens, and towels in hot water, and boiled/sterilized all my pump...

    Re: NICU Confusion

    Hi there....

If your LO is on an IV, you might request that they turn the flow rate down a bit so he/she gets thirsty and therefore will WANT to spend more time at the breast. Of course, your LO...

    Re: betrayed by my body

I forgot to add -- 6 weeks is a time when a lot of babies get fussy/more demanding as they hit a growth spurt. keep putting baby to the breast to up your supply.

    Re: betrayed by my body

How about a nurse-in for you and your LO? Stay topless for a day, leave baby in just a diaper, and breastfeed in bed all day long. Lots of skin-to-skin contact. Have someone bring you food/drink so...

Re: Oatmeal and how you make it?

I add craisins, walnuts, and maple syrup ro plain quick oats cooked in half water, half milk.

I've also tried substituting 1/2 unsweetened muesli cereal for the oatmeal. That's also tasty.
