  2. Peppermint Tea - how much is too much?

    Hi all,
I've recently started drinking a mug of peppermint tea before bedtime because I find it very relaxing. :) But I remember hearing that peppermint is one of those herbs that can decrease milk...
  3. Re: Administering probiotic to EBF infant

Well it's good to know the frequent poops are to be expected. Seems every time I check he has a dirty diaper again. :( The skin irritation definitely seems to be a result of the diarrhea. I'm...
  4. Re: Administering probiotic to EBF infant

Great - I will try giving the powder directly off my finger throughout the day. He takes the antibiotic first thing in the morning and at night before bed.
I checked Whole Foods, CVS and Walgreens...
  5. Re: Administering probiotic to EBF infant

Great to know! The pharmacist led me right to the children's powder and said there wasn't anything specifically for infants. :huh Definitely going to look for the Gerber drops! Thank you!!
  6. Administering probiotic to EBF infant

    Hi all,
I recently posted about my 8-month-old who won't eat solids. He hates the spoon anywhere near him - gags, makes himself throw up if I get food in his mouth, etc. He doesn't take a bottle,...

Re: 8-mo-old not interested in solids

Great to know his lack of interest is not a reason for concern at this stage. Thanks, everyone!

Re: 8-mo-old not interested in solids

    Thank you both!!
I hadn't heard about "Until one, just for fun," but it's very reassuring. Supposedly we started solids 2 pedi appts. ago, and at the most recent appt. I was told to do cereal+fruit...

    8-mo-old not interested in solids

    Hi all!
My little guy is almost 8 months and shows no interest in solids. He actually seems to dislike them. I've been trying on and off for over a month but haven't had much luck. He cries when...
  11. Re: One Tender Breast - why? relief?

Thank you everyone. I have been doing compressions and hand-expression and do feel less soreness, though still some tenderness now concentrated closer to the nipple area. Is it possible for a plug...
  12. Re: One Tender Breast - why? relief?

Thanks garsmum- this is helpful because I'd expect to have engorgement with a plug, but it sounds like plugs don't necessarily stop all milk flow, so maybe that's where there's no engorgement?
    Any...
  13. One Tender Breast - why? relief?

I nurse my 5-mo-old exclusively and for the past two days have been sore on one breast. I don't know what it is or what to do about it. It hurts the way a black-and-blue mark does. I can't sleep...
  14. Re: 4 mo DS no longer STTN - need solids? growth spurt?

    Thanks mommal!! :eye
Just a follow-up to this thread: Had doc appt. this morning, and wouldn't you know, DS STTN till 6 a.m., nursed on one side at 6, and I had to wake him at 9 for the appt.!...
  15. Re: 4 mo DS no longer STTN - need solids? growth spurt?

I hear ya sassypants! Sometimes I nod and smile at the doc knowing I will just keep on doing my own thing.

Filmmommy -when my first son started solids it did not change his sleeping habits one...
  16. Re: 4 mo DS no longer STTN - need solids? growth spurt?

Thank you both! Filmmommy - maybe it was not going to last, but it was beautiful while it did! :)
Mommal - I didn't know there was a term for this, but it's reassuring to know it's totally normal....
  17. 4 mo DS no longer STTN - need solids? growth spurt?

    Hi all!
DS (#2) is just over 4 months now. Nursing has gone swell from the very beginning (which was NOT the case with my first - but I won't go there).
#2 was born totally average size, but grew...
  18. Re: What helps relieve severe engorgement?

  19. Re: What helps relieve severe engorgement?

Again, thanks a million everyone. She is very grateful for the responses! She already feels better after a hot shower and has the bowl of water chilling in the fridge. Hats off to all of you who...
  20. Re: What helps relieve severe engorgement?

Wow, thank you so much everyone for the prompt and helpful replies.
Any guesses as to how long this may last??
  21. What helps relieve severe engorgement?

My sister's DD is 4 days old, milk has just come in, and she is so totally engorged that even her sleep shirt causes discomfort. She has a golf-ball size lump under her arm. DD is managing to latch...
  22. Re: Breastmilk composition after around 6 months

Funny, I have heard the opposite, granted not from official sources, though.
According to some moms I've talked to (and apparently their pediatricians), the "quality" of breastmilk takes a dip after...
  23. Re: Lopsided supply, different boob sizes getting embarrassi

Thanks, phi!!! I have been consistently offering the small side first and pumping only that side for cereal, and it seems to have made a difference. Still not perfectly symmetrical =) but I'm not...
  24. Re: Lopsided supply, different boob sizes getting embarrassi

    Haha thanks Christine!! :eye
  25. Re: Lopsided supply, different boob sizes getting embarrassi

Thanks newmom! Especially for the last sentence - very wise words! :thumbsup It's just me being self-conscious.

I'm not ready to wean just yet, but I'm hoping you are right and that they go...
