Re: Slow and now NO weight gain.

    Hi, Emily --

I just wanted to say that you're not alone. My wife and I are in a very similar predicament, and we also really are unsure with how to proceed. I don't have any advice, but I know...
  3. Re: At 6 months, still having problems

We usually need to top up the bottle with some formula - unless she can get more than 4oz out. If she has the opportunity to pump twice a day, we can give him 2 bottles, mostly breast milk (sometimes...
  4. Re: At 6 months, still having problems

She basically said that, "Well you're starting solids now anyway, so while it's concerning, I think it'll be corrected." She was definitely concerned that his growth pattern has been altered from the...
  5. Re: At 6 months, still having problems

I wish. I'm 5'7" and SHOULD weigh 160, but actually weigh 177 (I seriously think I packed on 15 lbs since DS was born). My wife is 5'0 (5'1 on a good day), and pre-pregnancy weighed 120, if I recall.
  6. Re: At 6 months, still having problems

Thought I should add in more details:
Son is 60cm in length (or 62cm, I really can't remember!), and head circumference was about 43.4cm.

He was weighed on the same scale that he was weighed at 4...
  7. At 6 months, still having problems

    Hi, all -

I've posted here before (on behalf of my wife, who is generally busy nursing :)), describing our difficulties and struggles with nursing, and I wish I could say this post is different,...

    Re: Lost Weight?

What's a posterior tongue tie? We had someone look at the "frenulum" under his tongue, and she said it looked all normal? Although our LO always has his tongue out, satiated or not. If he's full, his...

    Re: Lost Weight?

I've been at work all day, jumpy and fretting, and my wife and DS have been at home, so I don't know how it's been going today. I'll keep you all updated here - if only to retain my sanity, and so I...

    Re: Lost Weight?

Oh yeah - she's been using compressions. We watched the Dr. Newman videos! :)

We also found that the football hold helps a sleepy baby, and also makes it easier for him as my wife has a large...

    Re: Lost Weight?

He's definitely had free access to nursing; my wife is the the non-stop milk bar. :)

I'm just concerned that he's only able to get to the easily accessible milk, and so he gets filled when he...

    Re: Lost Weight?

It was the same scale between the 3580 and the 3500.

Our son was checked for being tongue-tied, and they said he was fine. Not sure about the other (i.e. cleft palate).

Like I said, I think his...

    Lost Weight?

    Howdy, again.

I've posted a few times, about our son falling asleep on my wife while breastfeeding (but also seemingly breastfeeding constantly), and also about how our pediatrician said he was...

    Re: Falling Asleep on Mom?

    Sigh. Hi again.

I feel like I keep posting the same stuff, but I guess I'm just posting to get some reassurance. Our DS is still nursing round the clock; literally. My wife can't put him down for...

    Re: Falling Asleep on Mom?

I guess I'm just concerned that he's falling asleep because the milk isn't flowing fast enough, then he's staying asleep coz mom is holding him. As soon as he's put down in the bassinet, he cries...

    Falling Asleep on Mom?

    Howdy -

I was wondering if a hungry baby (5 weeks old) would still fall asleep on his mom and stay asleep? Our son often will nurse for a few minutes from my wife, then he'll fall asleep and slip...

    Re: Concerned Papa

I just wanted to update y'all, as your replies were so helpful and caring.

We actually saw the IBCLC today, which was great. My wife nursed while there for a few hours and she confirmed, through...

    Re: Concerned Papa

I think for us - especially as first-timers - it's hard to know. I'm nearly positive y'all are right and the ped is wrong, but I'm also happy that he wanted us to follow up so quickly, and not let...

    Re: Concerned Papa

But is it normal for him to be at the breast for hours on end? I mean, literally, the boy was not sleeping at all during the day - he'd cry constantly if he was put down, and he'd suck lightly (and...

    Concerned Papa

    Howdy, there.

I know that, in general, fathers don't visit here, but I've been concerned, and my wife is too busy feeding our son (more on that in a moment) to check or post, so I thought I'd post...
