  1. Poll: Re: Are outside influences encouraging you to wean?

    I voted "no".
I'm aware of other people's negative attitudes, but they don't influence me. I gave up worrying what other people think of me a very long time ago.
    Well, I suppose that's not 100%...

Re: How do you respond to someone who thinks..

I don't respond - I stopped worrying about what other people think about me years ago! Of course if someone actually tried to stop me I'd say something back, but I haven't had that experience.
  3. Re: Has anyone ever weaned half a tandem pair?

    Thanks for your comments ladies.
I do appreciate your input, but unfortunately I don't think any of them would fit with our situation.
I'm impressed that anyone can have paints out before breakfast...
  4. Has anyone ever weaned half a tandem pair?

I wasn't sure whether I should put this in the tandem nursing section or here, but figured I might get more responses here. sorry if it's the wrong place.
My older son is 4yrs 8 months, and nurses...

Re: Surgery This Friday... Need Advice

    Hi Cherise,
You shouldn't be forced to choose between getting the treatment you need for your own health and breastfeeding your girls. Most modern anaesthetic agents are compatible with...

Poll: Re: It makes me mad!

I'm not sure it is unfair actually.
"Extended" has to be a relative term doesn't it? So it depends what you use as your comparator. If you use the biological norm, then yes, it's an inaccurate term,...

Poll: Re: It makes me mad!

It's not an issue I would lose any sleep over myself. I've heard the phrase "full-term" breastfeeding used, but I reckon that could offend plenty of people too, as it could be interpreted as meaning...

Re: New here and tandem nursing

Hi honeybear, and congrats on your new arrival.
I'm also tandem nursing and I know how demanding it can be, especially in the early weeks.
My older son was around 26 months when DS2 was born, and...

Re: Is B.milk a "clear liquid"? Surgery?

The American Society of Anesthesiologists recommends a minimum fasting period of 4 hours after breastmilk prior to anaesthesia for elective surgery. So this is between the 2 hours that is the...

    Re: Pregnant & nursing toddler

    Hi Lindsey,
congrats on your pregnancy. I nursed through my last pregnancy and have now been tandem nursing for over 2 years, so although I certainly wouldn't claim to be an expert, I do have some...

Re: breastfeeding & crying it out

Have you read "The No Cry Sleep Solution" by Elizabeth Pantley?
There are ideas in there that you may feel more comfortable with.

Re: What do you call it?

Always just been "milk" for us too.
Mainly because that's just what it is, and my boys don't have any other kind of milk anyway. But it does have the benefit that if they say "Can I have some milk"...

    Re: Just wondering??

Sorry, I don't mean to be picky, but that's not correct. Did you mean to say that they start to self feed around the same time as they lose their tongue thrust reflex?
The gag reflex is a normal...

    Re: BLS at a restaurant

I have to say, I didn't find it particularly messy.
Well, I suppose it depends what you're comparing it to. I think all babies are messy when they learn to eat, compared to an adult or older child,...

    Re: Baby-led weaning-only for SAHMs?

I did BLW and work outside the home too.
Who looks after your LO when you are at work? Have you discussed the idea with them?
I suppose I had it easier in that I didn't go back to work until my DS...

    Re: Baby Led Solids

I've been in this position. My elder 2 children were exactly like this, and I ended up doing BLS by default really, before I even knew it had a name. They simply would not eat pureed food but once I...

Re: Am I being selfish NOT weaning??

You know, I think this sort of behaviour is a lot more to do with the fact that your DD is 2 and a half than the fact that she nurses? Of course nursing is important to her, so that is maybe why a...

As a relative newcomer to this forum, I don't really know your story. But from the perspective of an outsider looking in, it's obvious from your posts on a huge number of subjects that you...

Re: Are there any more nursing older toddlers?

Not trying to start an argument here, genuinely curious, but I'm just wondering what's magic about 4?
What I mean is, there are so many posts about how people start getting hassled about nursing...
  22. Re: 8-m-o not interesting in solids (and allergies)

  23. Poll: Re: Nursing & pumping or Nursing and Cow's milk beyond 1 year?

    I voted "other".
Neither of my boys have ever drunk much ebm so they've tended to have water and solids when I've been at work, and nurse at other times. But I do still pump for nights when I'm at...

Re: Are there any more nursing older toddlers?

My elder DS is 4yrs 5 months now, so nearly a year older than when my DD weaned. By the time she weaned, my...
