    Re: unbearable guilt!

An ounce while pumping between feeds is not bad output. A breastfed baby typically only eats about 1-1.5 oz per hour. I could never really pump anything between feeds.

    I had a very forceful...

Re: Just about ready to quit and ff

I didn't use a shield, but my youngest had latching issues from tongue tie and once reflux kicked in, she refused to nurse. However, she would root to suck in her sleep. So I laid next to her skin to...

Re: Dr. Told Me To Switch to Formula?!

    :ita

It's a shame the previous doctor didn't factor in family history prior to making the recommendation to switch to formula. It sounds like you found a new pediatrician who is knowledgable about...

    Re: Extended Nursing

Another benefit of continuing to nurse is that it helps through the tantrum years. Especially when they get do worked up and don't have the words to convey how they are feeling, or just too wound up....

    Re: moms nursing older toddlers

Nursing an almost four year old here. She finally nightweaned at 3.5 and that was her biggest time to nurse. My milk is drying up fast. I think I only have drops here or there. But she says she will...

Re: To Clip or Not to Clip?

I don't think there is any comparison to tongue tie clip and a circumcision. There are relatively few nerve endings and blood vessels in the lingual frenulum:

Re: To Clip or Not to Clip?

I would get it it snipped before she is too old to clip in the office and has to have general anesthesia. That's what happened to my DD because I let the ped bully me and tell me she wasn't tongue...
  9. Re: I think my pediatrician is wrong - what do you think?

I think it's really important to feel comfortable with the pediatrician, and there are a lot of them that feel like you need to quantify how much milk a baby is given and are ignorant about BF.

    I...

Re: I really feel like giving up!

I know. I am suggesting that it is possible it is coincidental. A lot of moms think that things they eat are the culprit when it's coincidental. I know it's possible to be sensitive to foods. If it...

Re: I really feel like giving up!

I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that soda and dairy are the culprits of nighttime fussiness. Fussiness, particularly evening fussiness, is common and peaks at about 2 months of age. Pop your baby...

    Re: is this cluster feeding?

If you can, take advantage of this stage and put your feet up and watch TV or read. There will be plenty of time to run around in the future.

It helped me to stick some food in a crock pot...
  14. Re: Amoxicillin while breastfeeding...

Take probiotics while you are on the antibiotics to help prevent thrush.
  15. Re: Its breaking my heart but might have to stop nursing

Do you think his tummy could be upset from foremilk/hindmilk imbalance rather than the antibiotics? Have you tried block feeding?

Have you considered thrush as a reason for painful feeds?

    If it...

    Re: Still truckin'

Well, it wasn't a full waking nursing strike. I could nurse her in a sling, but all other times were basically while she was asleep. Until she was five months old she would only go to sleep with a...

    Re: Still truckin'

We nursed lying down or sleeping forever. It took getting close to a year old and a light switch flipped on - wanting to nurse whenever, where ever. I commend you for your commitment. :cheer
  18. Re: I need help. Considering weaning my four month old.

    So much good advice.

When my DD refused to nurse, I started sleeping skin to skin with her. She would fall asleep with the pacifier in her mouth, and I removed it the second she was asleep. She...
  19. Re: Easily Distractible 21 week old

Mommal described my child. We nursed in a dark room for a year, and then she was ready to nurse nonstop.

It was helpful for me to nurse my DD in a sling. Somehow it helped her get calm and focus.

Re: might be the end for us :(

I think 80 mg a day is the maximum dose of domperidone. Have you spoken to your doctor about increasing the dosage to see if that helps?
  21. Re: 2.5 yo is the worst sleeper ever! want to wean.

My 3.5 year old wants to nurse all the time if there is nothing going on. Boredom nursing is the worst and most annoying outside of nursing through the night. My DD did STTN for a short time around 2...

  24. Re: Eating so often--don't think we can

Can you pump and have your DH give a bottle of pumped milk at night? Can your DH take over dinner/evening activities so you can nap?
