Re: On average-how many night feedings?

3-5 here. Totally normal. Every baby is different and sleep differently. Some days I feel the same way...jealous of moms who get to sleep. But then other days I'm glad to be reminded that DD needs me...

Re: 2 week old constantly on the breast

Definitely. I swear my DD had a growth spurt every 2 weeks for the first 3 months. :ita
  3. Re: Alternative to rice cereal? General feeding...

How about oatmeal? Just put some whole oats in the food processor to make a powder, then cook until soft and creamy. Good source of iron!
Toast? Waffles? Pancakes? Cut into little pieces. Add some...

Re: Making your own baby food?

I agree with PP. You never know what's in the can or the canning liquid. I'd be afraid of salt, which babes aren't supposed to have.
  5. Re: Question for those who breastfeed exclusively

I suggest practicing nursing in different places and positions around the house. Then when you go out, you will feel comfortable nursing anywhere you can sit.
  6. Re: How does mommy or baby (or both) get Thrush?

Sugar in diet, weakened immune system, weak stomach acid, and mineral deficiencies are some theories. It is so aggravating!!! I had to completely change my diet to beat it. :doh
  7. Re: Thinking ahead with solids and the BLS approach few ?

And I forgot to say that the biggest pro is that she eats all WHOLE FOODS, nothing processed, salted, sugared, or preserved. That is super important for our LOs long term eating habits and health....
  8. Re: Thinking ahead with solids and the BLS approach few ?

Cons: messy because food falls down around baby, you have to make a conscious effort to plan meals with foods that baby can eat

Pros: baby has fun exploring new textures, no extra prep, baby likes...

    Re: WIC and BLS

Don't forget the tried-and-true method of using a cast iron pot!

And whole grains, including oatmeal, are great sources of iron no matter what the WIC person says. I know you already know that, I...

Re: When am I supposed to pump???

Sorry you are having a hard time. Here's a hug for you :hug
The beginning of a BF relationship can be hard, but it's so worth it. A month from now things will be much easier. Take a deep breath and...

    Re: WIC and BLS

I definitely think you should make your own. It will be personally rewarding. You could keep some in your sling/purse/diaper bag/car in case you meet other moms who need some info too. Just make sure...

Re: I'm so tired! Could something be wrong?

Are you eating plenty of fresh fruits and greens? Mineral imbalances can get you feeling sluggish. That includes iron, magnesium, potassium, and calcium.

Any yeast problems? Systemic yeast had me...

    Re: BF and tooth decay?

I've read that there is a huge genetic component to the strength of enamel, so some of the decay may be inevitable.

Oh, and xylitol is not only good for cavities, it regulates the yeast in your...

    Re: Nursing while I'm sick

Nurse nurse nurse! The more you nurse, the more anitbodies LO will get, and that will help their immune system fight the bug. And you will be forced to sit or lie down alot, which will keep you...
  17. Re: how can i get to the stage of saving some milk?

Is LO having a growth spurt? Teething? Anxious about you being at work? How old is LO?? Under 3 months, you will find baby wants to suck CONSTANTLY, and that's totally normal. It will get your supply...

    Re: Rice Cereal

buttrfli777, do you suspect your supply is lagging or is LO actively interested in food and doing the "ready for solids" behaviors? If it's a matter of volume of milk, perhaps you should look into...
  19. Re: 6 weeks old- all of a sudden only 1 huge poop a day

Those huge poops had me doing a happy dance when I realized that cloth diapers keep it all in. :D

    (Shameless plug, I know.)

    Re: Question about Solids?

Consider starting with fruits or veggies instead of cereal. That processed packaged cereal has little nutritional value and probably tastes like cardboard. It's meant for FF babies who need the iron....

    Re: no friends who bf

I'm sorry you are feeling distanced from your friends. It is an unfortunate consequence of being so closely connected with baby through nursing. Sometimes I feel like the more in-tune I am with baby,...

Re: Leaving my LO for a week.

Can you pump and leave BM in bottles? That will be much better for LO than formula. Also, her digestive system could have lots of trouble if you just switch to formula cold turkey.

    And as PP...

    Re: sterilising equipment

I have never sterilized anything except the sippy cup and only if I'm putting BM in it. Dishes and utensils get sterilized in the dishwasher anyway, but I would trust myself hand-washing in the sink...
