  1. Re: Attempting to wean my almost 6 month old!! I need ideas!

When you nurse her to sleep, you are in your bed, right? What if you instead cuddled her in bed with the bottle of formula? Maybe instead of weaning AND changing the sleep routine, just stick to...

Re: Do I need to drop dairy?

Are you seeing mucous or blood at all? You might try posting in the allergy forum so that the allergy mamas see this, but green frothy stools really just sounds like oversupply. What is your...

Do you want to wean her mama? I can't tell what you are asking. Advice on weaning, or are you just wishing that she would fall asleep some other way than nursing? Or...

    Re: 9 week growth spurt?

I don't know if you can count on a growth spurt every 3 weeks, or 3 months, etc., but if it seems like your baby is having a growth spurt - then she probably is.

  6. Re: Moving to a new house and 18 month old to own room?

I think that moving to a new house would be a great time to start off with a new room. :) We moved our kids to their own rooms, after cosleeping in our bed with us all night long - at 14 months for...
  7. Re: I think we're done...now what?

Are you ready to wean mama? If not, don't stop pumping. But if you are, then don't feel guilty about not doing everything to get her back to the breast. :shrug

I think these days they are...

Re: How old is too old for a pump

If you can get something new from your insurance company, that would be awesome! But - I imagine that the pump will work just fine. You could call Medela and ask them if they recommend you change...

    Re: Freezing

Yep. You sure can. Thawed milk can be used for up to 24 hours after it has been thawed. Are you going to be working or expect to be away from your baby for large chunks of time? I would be...

    Re: Stopping BFing.

I'm sorry you feel that you weren't heard here! Do take weaning slowly though so you don't get mastitis. As I said, my friend dropped each nursing session one week at a time and replaced it with...

    Re: Growth Spurt

:) I felt a bit like a mama cat or something the first few times I nursed laying down and Lilah used a nipple shield, which was a huge PITA! :) But, it was so wonderful to just sleep through her...

    Re: overfeeding DD?

I think it is possible that she needs the 14 ounces since she does STTN. So she nurses 5 or 6 times a day and you actually have about 9 hours between nursing in the AM and nursing in the PM when you...

    Re: Growth Spurt

I imagine that it is a growth spurt. :) My first daughter was like that from birth to about 8 or 9 weeks. I learned how to nurse her laying down - which was a life-saver! I could sleep while she...
  14. Re: Stressed with Breastfeeding an almost 8 monther!!!

Have you tried cosleeping? That really took the pressure off for me when I was pumping for my girls.

    Re: Stopping BFing.

My friend weaned her daughter by replacing one feeding a week with yogurt smoothies that she was making. You could do that with bottles of formula and slowly transition from nursing to the bottle. ...
  16. Re: Nursing beyond 12mo--a few questions

I wouldn't stress about pulling the bottle. :) I personally never wanted my kids to have anything other than breastmilk in bottles, so as soon as the frozen stash was gone, we ditched the bottles. ...
  17. Re: Weekends different from week days

Do you think you can try pumping at least once a day during the week? I stopped pumping with both of my girls at around a year and was able to nurse them on the weekends and not pump during the day....

Do you think that she has teeth coming in and the nursing bothers her? Or did she have an ear infection or something and it hurt to nurse that set it off?

Re: How To Tell If Low Supply???

How many wet and dirty diapers does he have? Pumping is not an indicator of supply!

Is your baby happy/content and alert? Did you have a lot of fluids during labor? That can inflate the baby's...
  22. Re: How many times a day do you nurse your toddler?

Trixie is 30 months old and I only let her nurse once in the morning now. At 14 months she was still nursing like an infant - as in, on demand. I didn't pump at work and she drank cow's milk when...

    Re: Pumping only 1-1.5 oz

It should be fine. That's what we all do that work out of the home... pump every 2 to 3 hours and the baby is bottle fed while we are at work. It worked both times for me.

    Re: Baby now refusing bottle...

Oh - and if it turns out you have excess lipase, which you probably don't - you just have to scald any milk that you're going to freeze. We can help you with how to do that if need be. :)

    Re: Baby now refusing bottle...

YOu have to taste it... I would put an ounce or so in the fridge, and then taste it every 12 hours or so. Taste it right after you pump it too, just so you know what it should taste like.

    You...
