  1. Re: 8 Months Old - Not sure I can sustain ...

Thank you, Joe's Mom, for a more understanding balanced answer. I'll look at the night weaning. I don't think we need to do it permanently, I just need something to help get through this little...
  2. Re: 8 Months Old - Not sure I can sustain ...

I'm not set on formula, and I appreciate the other suggestions. I'm just looking for a suggestion I have not already tried. I don't want to do formula but I haven't heard another suggestion, that I...
  3. Re: 8 Months Old - Not sure I can sustain ...

And the reason the formula tends to keep them asleep longer is because it's not breastmilk or real food, so it is harder for them to digest. I've read studies too, there are ones that go both ways. ...
  4. Re: 8 Months Old - Not sure I can sustain ...

Thanks for the thoughts. I too am VERY reluctant to try formula, though I don't believe it's an old wive's tale (this is info I got from the horses' mouths, and those horses were all about...
  5. Re: 8 Months Old - Not sure I can sustain ...

Thanks for the thoughts, I'm sorry I didn't provide more info.

We have tried several pain medications at night, including homeopathic teething medications.

We do co-sleep. I have read the No...
  6. Re: 8 Months Old - Not sure I can sustain ...

And if I find that one feeding of formula a day is the only choice ... how do I choose one, when he has had trouble with my milk if I have whey or chicken egg?

His dad's sensitivities are cow milk...
  7. 8 Months Old - Not sure I can sustain ...

Edited to add: there is no change if we use pain medications at night for teething. He does wake to eat. We do co-sleep. He used to just snuffle, and reach for me, and feed -- now he wakes,...

    Re: Is This Oversupply?

And now ... I'm starting to have very sharp twingy pains off and on in my breasts, not at all like when I had a clogged duct. Happens most when feeding, and once in awhile when I'm not. Let-down? ...
  9. Re: Burping & how long to keep upright

I'd been told often that breastfed babies don't have as many issues with burping, and if it's a "snack" they often won't burp at all.

I've never been told to keep him upright for 15-30 minutes. ...

    Re: Is This Oversupply?

    Thanks !

No he doesn't make guzzling sounds. I rarely even hear him swallowing, I have to look closely to tell.

I've nursed on my side for the feedings between 3AM and 11AM for a few weeks. ...

    Re: Marathon feedings ... help

    I'll second that.

I so feel for you! My little one did that his second 48 hours. My baby who hadn't cried a bit suddenly had a shrill frantic shriek whenever I took him off, and being his...

    Re: Soreness and Milk Clots?

I'd second what LLLJessica said about the latch. I read all the breastfeeding info before he was born and felt totally prepared for that latching thing, but it was harder than I expected! I was...

    Is This Oversupply?

I actually posted this in the oversupply section, but the newborn area seems to have more insight (interesting that a bunch of us with 6-week-olds are having this talk).

  14. Re: Options for increasing supply? I've tried a lot already...

My midwife who is an herbalist gave me a hops tincture, which worked within hours. The other client I know who tried it said it worked within a day. Her tinctures are particularly potent, far above...

    Re: breastfeeding pillows

You might like their professional pillow, which is meant for a clinical setting where it has to be wiped off a lot. Maybe one of their regular covers would fit over that so it would feel nicer too.
  17. Re: Is this Oversupply? Mixed Signs ...

So that's what block feeding refers to ...

Yes: not switching breasts for 2 hours is making a difference. He's asking to be fed much, much, much less frequently and has been generally less fussy...
  18. Re: Is this Oversupply? Mixed Signs ...

    Thanks for the thoughts ...

DS's dad is sensitive to whey and casein in cow's milk so I've experimented with going off completely then re-introducing: no change.

    Hand expression gets me all...
  19. Is this Oversupply? Mixed Signs ...

Sorry this will be long, there are a lot of pieces to the puzzle ...

Little one is 6 weeks old and breastfeeding has gone pretty well, but there have been some odd changes lately, with green poo...
