  1. How are they going to get him to nap?! (nursing + starting FT daycare)

My 2.5 year old regularly goes down for a nap by nursing. He will also fall asleep in a car or in a stroller, but he *never* falls asleep by just lying down -- unless it involves nursing. We've both...

Trying to latch onto both at once?

DS is going to be 2 soon and he's discovered a new trick while we're nursing lying down. He'll be nursing on the "lower" breast, then reach up and pull the "upper" breast down and try to get both...

My 18 month old asks for "ci-ci". NO idea where he got that word for it!

  5. Re: Advice from other mom's with inverted nipples?

I had one inverted nipple and one flat nipple. I did absolutely nothing at all ahead of time.

Once my baby was born he latched on fairly well to the flat nipple. On the inverted side I used a...

Re: When did your LO's eat 3 meals a day?

He didn't start eating breastfast until very recently ... so, 18 months. All babies are different. We never really pushed any meals and he still doesn't really eat much at any of them.

    Re: breastfeeding with tracheotomy possible?

Does your hospital have a lactation consultant on staff? That would probably be the best person to talk to about the technicalities.

I hope someone who's dealt with this before can post and help...

Re: Do you still feel your milk let down?

We're at 18 months too and I don't feel it everytime anymore. For us, nursing is more about the comfort than the milk these days, so i haven't worried about supply in ages.

    Re: When to feed meat?

We started meat at 6-7 months. And, yes, pureed meat is weird! I don't know how it happens, but what starts out as a chicken breast becomes cat food when it comes out of the blender! Dis-gus-ting!
  11. Re: 2 month well baby check - uncirumsized question...

I had a nurse do this to my son when they were trying to put a catheter in. It looked awful and painful! I was so worried he was going to get an infection afterwards, but he didn't. So, I'm not sure...

Re: Returning to work and BFing (He's 15 mos)

    :)

Easier said than done, I know. You're going back full-time? Would it be possible to ease into it? Say, just 3 days/week at first, then 4, then 5. The slower transition might make it easier on...

Re: Returning to work and BFing (He's 15 mos)

He'll probably just eat more. A friend of mine was in a similar situation and said that her son just ate more while she was away and nursed while she was there. It worked out well for her.
  14. Re: After 18 months of BF still not ovulating - is this normal?

My son is 17 months and I still haven't had a post-partum period. I, too, feel like I'm about to ovulate every once in a while, but so far haven't. I remember reading somehwere (TCOYF maybe?) that...

I tried one when my DS was around 4 months but he wouldn't take it. (Wouldn't take ANY bottle, mind you.)

Re: Teething Tablets and other meds?

I have used them together. I usually give the tablets first and then wait about 15-30 minutes to see if it did the trick, then I'll give advil/tylenol if he's still miserable.

    Hope that helps!

Re: Just wondering why nursing works so well

I think it has to do with the sucking. Sucking is soothing for babies -- it's pleasurable and makes them feel better.

Re: Congested baby, too much foremilk?

If she hasn't emptied one breast enough to switch to the other, you could always put her back onto that breast until it's done.

He had about a zillion of those little naps! Maybe 5-6? when he was really little. Down to about 3-4 just before he turned a year.

    Re: Nap length?

My DS used to nap for 40 minutes at a time when he was a baby. You could set a clock by him, it was weird! At about a year he started napping longer -- 1-2 hours at a time.

    Oh, and we did no...
