  1. Re: Very small toddler - 21 months/18lbs

Update: our 2 year exam went just fine! Our pediatrician showed me that he grew more from 18-24mo than he did from 12-18mo (by 4oz)!!

He scored around the age of a 3 year old on the developmental...
  2. Re: Very small toddler - 21 months/18lbs

I actually just started reading "kiss me!" off of another recommendation, I'm hoping he touches a bit on that in that book!! Thanks!
  3. Re: Very small toddler - 21 months/18lbs

Oh, and our pediatrician uses the CDC charts which makes my boy even farther off the charts than he actually is. I have come to terms with the fact that he will not end up on the charts for height...
  4. Re: Very small toddler - 21 months/18lbs

Just wanted to update, as I am feeling the anxiety of his 2 year check being only one week away.

He has grown since I last posted: At 24mo he is 30.3" tall and 19.5lbs (which is about 1lb and...
  5. Re: Too much going on! I feel resentment towards my son

Just want to say thank you.

We are no longer talking of weaning him, which was my decision. It makes me so sad to think of taking his nursies away from him. We are still having a difficult time...
  6. Re: Too much going on! I feel resentment towards my son

I agree!! It's also very difficult not to get frustrated, and then I get even more upset with myself for feeling that frustration! He's just a little kid. Boundaries are good. We started...
  7. Re: Too much going on! I feel resentment towards my son

I know it won't improve his behavior. His nursing is just obnoxious most of the time - he wants to latch and unlatch a trillion times and get down and play and then come back. His nursing manners...
  8. Too much going on! I feel resentment towards my son

There are changes going on in our lives right now. My almost-two year old is potty learning and he has become very defiant towards us and sometimes mean. He hits us and talks back - typical two...
  9. Re: Very small toddler - 21 months/18lbs

Thank you both for your input. I will likely ask for a referral if he doesn't have a good growth spurt in the next few months :)
  10. Re: Very small toddler - 21 months/18lbs

Thank you all! We still have three months until his 2 year check. His pediatrician said at his 18 month check that he expects him to be back on the (bottom of the) charts by his next check up....and...
  11. Re: Very small toddler - 21 months/18lbs

Thank you for your response!! He's very well on track emotionally and developmentally. He's speaking well and is very strong and has good motor skills, etc. He was kind of a late walker (14 months)...
  12. Very small toddler - 21 months/18lbs

At what point do you decide to do growth hormone testing on a kid? My little seems to be following a curve - but it's so much more shallow than the curves on the growth charts and he has continually...
  13. Re: How many calories is my 17 month old getting from BM?

    Thank you both so much!!

I'm thinking I'll just "guess" 3oz per feeding (which is about what I got from pumping when I still pumped, and I can't imagine he'd get much less than that). My son is...
  14. Re: How many calories is my 17 month old getting from BM?

His diaper output is normal. His bowl movements are regular and not diarrhea or overly smelly compared to other kids at daycare.
  15. How many calories is my 17 month old getting from BM?

I'm trying to prepare myself a bit for my little boy's 18 month check up. He's off the growth curve in both height and weight, but has grown 1/2" and about 3oz since his 12 month check (there is...
  16. Re: Growth spurt or something else?

I think you're right, I'm thinking teething too. His teeth are a little backwards and slow coming in, but he does not have his canines yet. He has his side incisors, and one of his two front teeth...
  17. Growth spurt or something else?

I can not figure out what is wrong with my little boy. He is 14 months old and just wants to nurse nurse nurse! My nipples are so sore and I have been up almost all night with him for the past...

Re: Petite 14 month losing weight

Thanks! I'll take him on Thursday and have him weighed on the scale in his office. I stopped pumping at 12.5months and he drinks approximately 8oz of whole cows milk at daycare, but on weekends he...

Re: Petite 14 month losing weight

From my understanding it is mathematically impossible to be "off" of a percentile based chart. I know it is a term that is used a lot when measuring small or large children, but I guess I'm...

Re: Petite 14 month losing weight

Because the charts work off of a percentage, is it really possible to be "off the chart". He is 2lbs below the lowest curve that the charts show. Wouldn't that classify him as being "off the chart"...

    Petite 14 month losing weight

I know it can be common for babies around 1 year old to lose weight, but it's making me freak out a little.

My 14 month old boy has always been teeny. 5lbs 15oz at full term birth.

    At his 12...
  22. Re: Dropping breast feedings as solids progress (at daycare)

I got that same feeling from my son around that age at daycare and started thinking about dropping that third bottle. My son also loved solids, and was "too busy" for a bottle. I always stressed...
  23. Re: Tube fed baby trying to breastfeed need help

Congratulations on your new little son! You are doing a great job getting him off to the right start!

While my son was not premature, he was small, and we had nursing problems in the beginning...
  24. Re: One year appointment w/ pediatrician - What should I exp

    I just wanted to update.

Kevin's one year appointment was yesterday and it went great! The nurse asked me how long he was sleeping every night, and I told her 12-13 hours (but did not say that he...
  25. Re: Does it matter which pumping sessions you drop first?

Yesterday, for the first time since I returned to work, I did not pump at all!! It felt great :) I'm kind of excited!

He also had his one year check up and HE HIT 17LBS!! He's still a tiny...
