  1. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

Am glad the acupuncture is helping!

Nursing lying down may take some time to master... For ages I would sit up in bed and feed until she was nearly asleep and then move us into a lying down...

    Re: 3 month old twins...

The only time I would doubt supply is if other things are going on, failure to weight gain etc!

I would also say supplementing can diminish your supply too unless you are willing to pump so it...

    Re: 3 month old twins...

3 months is notorious for increased feeding for a few days to a week, plus if you are somewhere hot they are probably just keeping hydrated.

I see no reason to doubt your supply, just hang on in...

    Re: Breastmilk Dilemma

You say your lo is 2 months old... Is he exclusively breastfed atm? If he is and gaining when maybe your milk is ok? A baby takes the same amount of milk at 6 months as 2 so you don't need to worry...

  6. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

My understanding is sitting supported is ok. We did this as unsupported took my lo until 7 months. Its more about core strength so that the passages inside aren't squished... Analytical Armadillo had...
  7. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

Do make sure they are sitting tho. Not sitting is a choking risk... For purees too!
  8. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

The best thing about bls is that if they aren't ready they simply won't swallow it down as there is absolutely no pressure on them to do anything other than explore and play and yet it is amazing how...
  9. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

Breastfeed, exercise and lose weight? Pressure much?! Breastfeeding helps you lose weight! Tell him that!

I've managed to gain weight since giving birth... (like 7 pounds gain :s) Think I over...
  10. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

Throw the formula away if it's been 2 weeks :p (then DH can't get to it) I jest; that isn't a sensible answer.

Are you able to have a calm conversation about how it is working now an lo has been...
  11. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

Oh it is such an emotional time and a hard one too. I know the support and reassurance of other bf mums who had disagreed with health care professionals and had weight gain issues helped me a lot!...
  12. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

Gah as long as a baby is on the chart and not varying more than a couple of lines there really is no issue. I would be tempted to either ignore the paed or switch again (I was on my 3rd gp before I...
  13. Re: Help!! Engorgement/blocked ducts? 6 months

If you pump before bed don't empty the breast, it will only refill! Pump just a bit or even better hand express as it is supposed to be less stimulating.

There are things called blebs and milk...
  14. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

This is the link I meant http://kellymom.com/health/growth/growthcharts/

There is a page on how to increase weight gain too; but you have probably read it!
  15. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

http://kellymom.com/bf/normal/weight-gain/ At 4 months his weight gain isn't far off by these standards! I'm sure I've read elsewhere 3oz a week as bf is normal too... But I don't recall the age...
  16. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

    :( Immunizations suck :(

Seems like the Paeds are obsessed with weight gain too :(

I wish there were a magical answer to all of this for you. I hope the Reglan helps.

At least 3.5 a week is...
  17. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

Maybe this is a silly question, but why are you worried about your milk flow and /or supply? You are breastfeeding on demand and pumping around 5oz per day, baby is content... Not sure I see an issue...
  18. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

I never leak even on domperidone... I wouldn't take that as an indication of milk supply!

Re: How to transition to Sippy Cup

You could consider an open cup like a doidy cup too...

Different sippy cups have different 'flows' too... Which means lo can be struggling with it being too hard or too easy :/

    I would try not...
  20. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

Hmm, DH is a tough one... Do you know why he is anti it? I know for me it helped when I found out domperidone is a large molecule size so it is unlikely to pass into milk in any large quantity; and...

    Re: Teething and increased appetite?

I haven't experienced this but from what I understand breastmilk is a natural pain killer and so this is fairly common when teething :)
  22. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

6.3oz gain is great! Well done the both of you! I've used domperidone from when my lo was 2 weeks old. Tried to come off it before her issues were sorted and failed (for obvious reasons). This time...
