  1. Re: 10 day old baby and inadequate milk supply

What about pumping more overnight and using that to supplement instead of formula?
  2. Re: 10 day old baby and inadequate milk supply

I always have way more milk available to pump in the early AM than afternoon/evening. Totally normal.

    Re: Block Feeding How To

I'm a nurse too! But I work full time doing phone triage in a family practice clinic. I have enough milk when she nurses but am having trouble with the pump - there is another thread all about it. I...

    Re: Block Feeding How To

Do you have to go to work sometime soon? If so I would really hesitate to do anything to reduce your supply. I had big time oversupply when I was on maternity leave and my supply is way down now that...

    Re: Relactation possible

Also if she is willing to let you nurse him I would say go ahead and try even if you don't think you have milk. A baby will stimulate production better than anything.

    Re: Relactation possible

So I don't know a lot about this but I did stumble across this the other day
    http://www.motherlove.com/product/5901-More-Milk-Special-Blend-Capsules.html

It says it can help adoptive mothers, so...
  7. Re: Sleep Nursing and nursing for a long time

I will often let R stay latched on one boob for over a half-hour if she falls asleep. If she wakes up and wants to nurse more we switch sides. One thing I would say though is that if you are worried...

    Re: Baby Boycotting Bottles!

Would he take it with a spoon? Maybe half frozen like a slushie?

    Re: Baby Boycotting Bottles!

How often is he nursing when with you? Is he still having enough wet/soiled diapers? Does he eat solids or drink water with dad at all? I am wondering if at 8 months 14 hours might be ok for him to...
  10. Re: Extra small nipples = pumping hell! So frustrated!!!!!

@sonogirl I didn't see your post before mine, but thanks. I imagine if I am tired enough I will sleep through her nursing.
  11. Re: Extra small nipples = pumping hell! So frustrated!!!!!

Girls-only college? Do those still exist?

Bfwmomof3 - thanks. Of course on some level I know pumping is unnatural. I think that is part of my problem. My body doesn't respond to a cold,...
  12. Re: Extra small nipples = pumping hell! So frustrated!!!!!

Stress, lack of sleep and dehydration could all be playing a role here. I am in grad school and my classes started again this week on top of working full time. I drink water all day at work but...
  13. Re: Strange distracted behavior by 11 week old

I am learning to do everything in 10-20 minute chunks - as that is about how long my LO will sit content in her bouncy chair or swing. I keep her where she can see me and sing or talk to her while i...
  14. Re: Extra small nipples = pumping hell! So frustrated!!!!!

So an update - my pumping output has seriously slipped. In the 9-10 hours I am away R eats 12-14 ounces and I pump 8 or 9. That is 4 pumping sessions, with breast massage and hand expressing every...

    Re: nipples in flange

I have the same problem. There is a 19mm you can get that works with the Medela PISA.

  16. Re: Extra small nipples = pumping hell! So frustrated!!!!!

That is what I am finding. Everywhere I look people talk about needing bigger flanges. I always thought my nipples were pretty normal but apparently as far as nursing moms go they are way smaller...
  17. Re: Thinking of pumping to replace breastfeeds

Are you a stay at home mom? If so you could try pumping like working moms do. To get a little bit of a freezer supply I would start now, pump just once/day. An hour after her first morning feed is...
  18. Re: Extra small nipples = pumping hell! So frustrated!!!!!

Thanks! Even with the code I think Amazon might be cheaper, depends what the shipping costs are. But I really appreciate it. I will figure this out one way or another!
  19. Re: Extra small nipples = pumping hell! So frustrated!!!!!

    Seriously? That would be awesome.
  20. Re: Extra small nipples = pumping hell! So frustrated!!!!!

Maybe once my hubby starts getting paid I will try the simple wishes bra.
  21. Re: Extra small nipples = pumping hell! So frustrated!!!!!

I have to do a lot of breast compressions to keep the milk flowing. But I end up breaking the seal really easily so I have to switch to one side at a time so I can hold the flange in one hand and...
  22. Re: Extra small nipples = pumping hell! So frustrated!!!!!

The funny thing is I have D cups - but tiny nipples. I had no idea they were so much smaller than average. I will have to order those. 19 has got to be better than my current 21. I might need a...
  23. Re: Extra small nipples = pumping hell! So frustrated!!!!!

Anyone else? I talked to an IBCLC friend of mine and she had me troubleshoot my pump, but I am sure it is the flange size that is a problem. My output is ok as long as I take the time to do a lot of...
  24. Re: Which Avent nipple seize for my Baby

Your nipples never change size (much) so why should the bottle nipples? I would stick to what is working now.
  25. Re: Freeze immediately and reduce lipase impact?

It absolutely varies. Mine turns within just a couple hours and my baby won't have anything to do with it, so I scald at each pumping session. Some moms can just scald when they get home from work....
