Re: 7 weeks in, still having problems :(

I re-read your statement about not being able to take care of your 4 yr old while getting interrupted sleep.

If you look at it that way, then you are setting yourself up for failure. Have a look...

Re: 7 weeks in, still having problems :(

I think with weaning from the shield, and increasing feedings at the breast, you will see an increase in supply.

I would not be concerned with him sleeping more at night... in order to increase...

Re: Where to find a LC..?

don't beat yourself up.. it may not even be the onions.

It's worth it to do the warm bath and feed her when she's sleepy/sleeping because if she will take your breast for any length of time, it...

Re: Where to find a LC..?

I also wanted to mention night nursing... waking her to nurse... but I'm sure you've tried that. Figured I'd mention it.

Re: Where to find a LC..?

I read one of your posts.. on a response to someone else.

I laughed when I saw you write ... she looks up at you as if to say, 'well squeeze it'. Seriously, though... have you? Do you know about...

Re: Where to find a LC..?

I'm not sure, waiting to hear back from my friend. I thought I ran across one recently.

How are things going recently? I cannot find the thread about the strike. I'm looking...
  9. Re: Feeling Lost - 5 week old not gaining

Often times docs prescribe some sort of Malox Supreme before going the other route first. You might want to ask your pediatrician if you can start there and see how things go.

    Keeping baby upright...

    Re: Grunting and NOT sleeping

If his weight gain is good, he is probably getting the hindmilk he needs.

It sounds to me like you have a large supply, and often times young babies have a hard time dealing with getting the milk...

Re: Where to find a LC..?

I just asked a friend of mine, I am pretty sure there is a search engine through the IBLC folks.

Are you the one who has an 8 month old on strike?

    Re: feeding schedule?

A nursing necklace during the day could also hold her attention more.

To your original question... I don't think there is a correct schedule on feeding/introducing solids. Watch her cues, and her...

    Re: Blebs and Plugged ducts

I agree with the pumping, see if you can only pump to relieve, not to let-down.
Although I wonder if that would create more plugged ducts.

Some women find that sage tea is helpful to reduce...
  14. Re: Another question about pumping for stash

Hurting his supply? I doubt at this age you are hurting supply by pumping, I would think you are increasing it! Usually women wait until supply and relationship is established before pumping because...

Re: should i cut down on solids

It is not recommended to feed any solids at all until 6 months. I might even suggest 7 months. Usually you look for signs of readiness (sitting up unassisted is one sign). However, some are ready a...

Re: Low supply after flu, supplement?

Put your baby to breast more often. You can wake 1-2 hrs earlier than you normally would, to pump (supply is at it's greatest in the wee hours of the morning) just be sure to allow at least one hour...
  17. Re: Second Nursing Strike - Need to Move On...

Have you tried taking a warm bath with him and nursing him?

Continue offering. Sometimes they will nurse again on and off, and weeks later start again, you never know.

  18. Re: Maintaining supply for son born 3 months early

It is not recommended to take the fenugreek supplements if you are nursing a premature baby. Please check with your LC or doctor before going that route.

Dr. Jack Newman talks about being able to...

Re: 4 weeks and still sore nursing

Did the LC check for tongue tie?

I'd go back to the LC again, and ask her to check for Thrush again, just to rule it out. Then ask for her to check under the tongue.
  20. Re: 10 wk old needs your input, mom needs your encouragement

If your nipple is shaped that way, it could be an incorrect latch. Are you in pain during nursing? Is baby taking in enough of your areola?

    How is weight gain?
