    feeding schedule?

    Hi Ladies.

I'd love to hear what nursing/solids feeding schedule works for you. Nursing on demand was OK, but our family is the type that needs at least a loose schedule to guide the day.

    I...

Re: dad overfeeding, mom going crazy

You know, I really don't have a problem with the occasional bottle of formula. Millions of babies are raised on it, and I was one of them! When I'm not around,we give Lehua a bottle of pumped milk if...

Re: dad overfeeding, mom going crazy

    Thanks for all the support.

When I try to tell my hubby that the supplemental bottle could affect my supply, he says then I should just pump while he's giving her the bottle (right after I nursed...

    dad overfeeding, mom going crazy

This is just a rant, although I'd welcome any feedback.

My husband is obsessed with giving our 4 month old bottles of formula. Because he can't see how much milk she is getting from me, and...

    Unsatisfied

The amount I can pump varies throughout the day. First thing in the morning, I can get as much as 4 oz. Afternoon or evening, no more than 2 oz, even at a regular feeding time.

    At these times, my...

Re: Coming to terms with stopping

I agree with what the others have said. Having a happy, healthy mom is far more important to your baby than being breastfed. And one big bright side to the bottle is that it will give Dad an equal...

    not pooping

My breastfed two month old went several days without pooping. Then when she did it was HUGE and a little thicker than normal (although not hard). Now it's been two days since the last poop again....

    Re: pumping during growth spurt?

So how long should I wait after nursing to pump? I want to wait long enough to get some milk, but not so long that it cuts into her next feeding.

    pumping during growth spurt?

My baby is six weeks old. I've been pumping to build up a supply and so my husband can give our baby a midnight bottle. My MO has been to pump about 1 hour after I feed the baby.

    However, she...

how can I tell if she's really hungry?

Any advice on how I can tell when my 3 week old is really hungry and when she just wants me as a pacifier?

She always wants to nurse during her fussy periods (afternoons and evenings). She wants...

Re: Constant nursing (and I mean constant!)

Also, now at 2 weeks, we are told we can introduce a bottle for one feeding per day. I was so excited to get set up with a breast pump -- just knowing that someone else can take over a feeding now...

Re: Constant nursing (and I mean constant!)

We met with a lactation consultant and that helped a lot. Now our system is:

1)cool her down and stimulate her so she doesn't nap during nursings
2)if she wants to nurse less than 90 minutes...

    draining the breast?

So after a feeding I notice I can still squeeze milk out of my breast. Does this mean she is not draining the breast? Should I put her back on the same breast until it is "dry," or switch to the...

Re: Constant nursing (and I mean constant!)

I don't think it's gas or a problem with my diet, because she is pretty content the rest of the day. It's only in the afternoon that she gets fussy. Also, she doesn't writhe or show any discomfort....

Re: Constant nursing (and I mean constant!)

Could stimulation -- such as the radio, TV or my talking -- be preventing her from calming down during feeding? What do you think?

Re: Constant nursing (and I mean constant!)

She was having several poops a day but it was just a small amount. It is hard to tell when she is peeing because those disposable diapers soak up the fluid and don't feel wet. Sometimes I can tell...

Constant nursing (and I mean constant!)

My one week old nurses often -- once an hour for most of the day -- but she seems to be satisfied for the most part and is healthy.

HOWEVER, she goes through a period in the afternoon and early...
