    White nipple

So I've noticed that after some of my pumping sessions, the tips of one or both of my nipples is white. I tried finding info, but I've only seen this happen in relation to BFing. Do I have my pump...

    Re: Bfing and donating blood

I got a call from the blood bank I used to donate to, asking me to come in. I merely said I was breastfeeding, and they said they would call me back in a year or so. :)

Re: Baby only feeds with nipple shield

Also, don't stress if it takes awhile. My DS weaned himself off the shield at about 3.5 months. We still use it occasionally several weeks later when he gets tired and frustrated. He lapses back...

    Re: using a nipple shield

I used a nipple shield for the first 3.5 months of my LOs life, and he's doing just fine at 4 months. Weaned himself off and everything. I think what affected my supply was having a preemie with...

    Re: pumping too much foremilk?

If you're not letting the milk warm up first before transferring it to a bottle, try that. The fattier milk tends to stick to the sides when it's cold, but will mix back in at room temperature. HTH!

    Re: Different Opinions

I really don't see what the point would be. If you have breastmilk, why bother with formula. :)

    Re: Need some reassurance... Semi-venting

I think it's been mentioned here before, but:

"Your baby's too small, you should supplement with (or switch to) formula."

"Your baby's too big, you should stop breastfeeding because he just...
  9. Re: Dr. Newman suggests not waking baby up every 2-3 hours??

I had to wake up my son to nurse him every 2-2.5 hours during the day and every 3 hours at night. But that was because he a preemie and prone to sleeping through feedings to conserve energy, and was...

    Re: Will not nap

I could have written this post. My DS is four months old now, and he may not live until 5. Or I won't. Either way, ONE of us has to get more sleep.

DH got so fed up last night that he put our...
  11. Re: Wait 24 hours to nurse??? Supposedly nurses' advice.

You're not wrong at all. The advice the nurse gave is just plain wrong. Also, you're right that babies that sleep that many hours may start sleeping through feedings in order to conserve energy. ...

    Re: Random Growth Spurt?

Oh, thanks. He had one at three months, and he's preemie, so it's all very unpredictable. :lol He slept six hours straight last night, but ate every 1.5 hours this morning again. We'll make it...
  13. Re: I really need some help...feeling like a failure.

Also, having to give formula doesn't make you a failure. Rule #1: Feed the Baby! You can wean him back off of it once you get the other issues figured out, just don't give up. Keep putting him to...

Re: LO has difficulty with BM

Oh, yeah... this sounds familiar. We bought the gas drops and gripe water because he just couldn't get the gas out on his own. I did the bicycling and the rubbing and the patting and everything. ...
  15. Re: Nipple and Sucking Confusion - Please Help

Eep. I asked you just this question in the other thread. :lol Didn't see this one (I use the new posts feature, so things move around a bit). I definitely wouldn't give up, but I'm not...
  16. Re: Back to work and trouble breastfeeding

The only other thing I can think of is what type of nipples you have on the bottles you're using. Other than shape, which can be a baby's preference, you want to make sure you're using a "Slow Flow"...
  17. Re: Back to work and trouble breastfeeding

My baby had a nursing strike right after I went back to work. I took that first weekend to have a "babymoon" and we got ourselves back on track. Now he wants to nurse almost right after I get home,...

    Random Growth Spurt?

So my LO has been feeding every 2.5 hours during the day, and cluster feeding in the evenings. Then he has one 3 hours stretch of sleeping, and it's back to 1.5 - 2 hours apart for the rest of the...

    Re: 3 Months, Teething already?

My LO will be four months this week, and he started the same stuff at three months, with no sign of teeth yet. His mouth is also too small for all the teething toys, so I use frozen Soothies...

Re: How much do you accomplish?

The sling should help. I know having ways to carry my DS around helped me tremendously. But those first six weeks? Bleh. We went to the hockey rink, but we were bottle feeding then, too, because...

    Re: pumping/expressing while in labor

You, as the parent, as far as I know, have the right to refuse any procedure, particularly non-emergency ones. :) Someone else hear may have proof to back that, but I know in my heart that no one...

Yeah, that's a hospital policy that needs some changing. Stick to your guns. It's your baby and you pay the bills. :)

Re: Oatmeal and how you make it?

    I dislike oatmeal.

So I buy Nestle chocolate chips or butterscotch chips and make cookies as directed on the packages. :)

    Re: Chuck the Clock

I still check the clock, but I don't watch it. Time tends to escape me, and especially in the middle of the night, I need to be able to calculate how long it's been since he last ate so I have a...

Re: dental x-rays okay while BF

I had an appointment during my pregnancy, and was told no x-rays, so we waited until after my LO was born. Then they did the x-rays, AND removed my wisdom teeth. The local anasthetic was all I was...
