  1. Re: Going away for 2 days - Do I need to pump?

Just wanted to update the thread in case it's every useful to anybody. I brought my pump along but I didn't end up needing it, which was pretty awesome. That and a full night sleep alone.

Re: Going on vacation- time to wean?

If you are OK with the possibility of weaning (and I'm sorry if my previous post implied that you shouldn't be, it's none of my business!) then you won't have to pump as much but you should bring...

Re: Going on vacation- time to wean?

Honestly I can't imagine going away for 7 days when my daughter was that young. Not just because she would have had a hard time without me, but also because I'd have to pump-pump-pump while away to...
  4. Going away for 2 days - Do I need to pump?

My daughter will be 20 months when I will be going away (2 days and a night) for a work trip.

She nurses 2-3 times on days that I work (first thing in the morning, first thing when I come back...
  5. Re: Dr Jay Gordon sleep method - did it work for you?

I successfully night-weaned my daughter using Dr Jay Gordon's method, though I went more slowly at first. I started when she was around 16.5 months and we were more or less done when she turned 18...

Re: Do I need to wean my baby?

My period didn't return until after I night-weaned my LO (at around 17.5 months). I stopped pumping when she was 13 months, so there were 8+ hour breaks in nursing/pumping sessions, but that didn't...
  7. Re: Going away for 2 nights, when/how to pump?

Happy to report that DH and DD got along just fine, he used the milk from the freezer stash and it all went as well as could have been expected even given that she came down with a bad cold 2 days...
  8. Re: Going away for 2 nights, when/how to pump?

Thank you, everybody. I guess I'll try sticking to a 2 times a day (morning, evening), one time overnight (3am) pumping schedule.

I work full-time, so my daughter loves our sitter, so that takes...
  9. Going away for 2 nights, when/how to pump?

My DD will be almost 16 months when I have to go away for three days, two nights for a business trip

She currently nurses 2-3 times during the day on my workdays (9am - sometimes, 6pm, and 8pm)...
  10. Re: Lost it at ped's office, totally upset & need support

OMG, thank you all so much. Reading all of your posts is like a breath of fresh air.
I was so upset after the visit that I called my mom and just proceeded to bawl my eyes out while my daughter was...
  11. Lost it at ped's office, totally upset & need support

First of all, I wanted to say that I don't know how I would have managed to get as far as I did with nursing, was it not for the support of my local LLL leader and all of you, wonderful ladies.

  12. Re: Poll: when did your toddler started STTN?

You are really perceptive! Thanks! I feel like I'm stuck in catch-22: I just cannot (physically cannot, I get light-headed and nauseous) to nurse her in the rocker when she wakes up in the middle of...
  13. Re: Poll: when did your toddler started STTN?

First of all, thank you all who contributed to the thread. It's helpful to hear what others experiences are like.

In my mind, for a child above 1 year old, STTN is 10+ hours on a consistent...
  14. Poll: when did your toddler started STTN?

If you didn't try to hasten night-weaning in your child and just allowed him/her to stop nursing at night at his/her own pace, when did it happen for you?

My daughter is now 14 months old and we...

    Re: Cosleeping advice needed!

Tracie, you got me thinking, thank you.... I have some ideas! But I guess this would entail baby-proofing the room a lot more methodically since she just might take off without me noticing...

    Re: Cosleeping advice needed!

Do you mean her crib mattress?

She still wakes up to nurse x3 times at night, I can't imagine having to hobble over to where she is, nursing her, then getting back up and going back to our...

    Cosleeping advice needed!

    Here's the situation:

We've been co-sleeping with our 14-months old for a while and it has worked very well for us. However, she has now become very large and rolls around like a jolly rolling...
  18. Re: Cannot get rid of the last pumping session, help!!!

I made it home (engorged like I've got a newborn), but no issues. My daughter seemed a little surprised by the amount of milk I had for her, but happily emptied both of my boobs in no time.

    Going...
  19. Re: Cannot get rid of the last pumping session, help!!!

OK so I missed my pumping slot and now won't be able to pump until I get home (in 2 hours). Let's hope my boobs will hold.
  20. Re: Cannot get rid of the last pumping session, help!!!

3pm now... it's getting full in here. I'm going to try and hold out some more...
  21. Re: what to expect with starting solids

Every baby is different and some take to solids more enthusiastically than others. With my daughter solids were mainly for playing until she turned 11 months: her milk intake remained exactly the...
  22. Cannot get rid of the last pumping session, help!!!

My daughter is 13+ months old and I'd like to stop pumping while at work. She eats solids well and we nurse whenever we are together (weekends and co-sleep at night).
    However, I haven't been able...
  23. Re: Pump-weaning and nigh-weaning, and doubts, oh my!

    Thanks, ladies.

I guess I have to pick one *sigh* No sleeping through the night for me just yet.
  24. Pump-weaning and nigh-weaning, and doubts, oh my!

    Hi ladies.

I can hardly believe it, but my daughter is turing one tomorrow. I didn't dare to dream that we are going to make it this far through the awful early days of around-the-clock nursing,...
  25. Re: How did YOU do cow's milk transition and pump-weaning?

    Thank you for the advice.

I've seen the 3-5 recommendation before, but I really cannot reconcile it with the reality I'm seeing: my DD consistently drinks about 8 oz of expressed breast-milk while...
