    Re: Pumping chit chat 3

I got my Ameda PY last Wednesday. I need the 30.5mm flanges. I gave it a whirl and not too bad, considering that it has been at least 3yrs since I've pumped. I've taken to pumping 2x a day to donate...
  2. Re: Breastfeeding baby Maggie - creased nipples, ouch!

JoMo, I'm struggling here, too. I could tell before the cord was even cut that Finley had a TT. I got it clipped the day after she was born...she also have a level 4 lip tie, but she can still flare...

Re: Told to Supplement with Formula

Your baby sounds perfect. He may just be a slow gainer. I would just offer to nurse a little more often. Otherwise, I'd leave well enough alone. It sounds like you're doing just fine making enough...

    Re: BLS at DCP

I did like Christine...BLS at home and purees, yogurt, applesauce, etc at daycare.
  5. Re: Weaning naturally at 12 months?? For real??

My first weaned naturally right around a year. I was sad. His molars came in at 10mos. He had 16/20 teeth by his first birthday. He walked before 9mos. I literally couldn't keep him still enough to...

Re: having trouble with a bottle

I would also keep trying...daily. Have you tried the playtex drop ins with a LATEX nipple? Those have always worked nicely for my kiddos. The latex nipple is much softer than the silicone and some...
  7. Re: mommy sick - baby breaks out in head to toe red blotches

Can you take a post a picture?

I would call back and ask your doctor again about a small dose of benadryl or zyrtec. She is not too young for it provided that you give the right dose based on her...

Hang in there, mama. You are doing a fabulous job and very soon this will be a thing of the past. A great hurdle that you have surpassed.

Re: 18 days old and really need help

You CAN do this! Hang in there. She's not a dumb baby...bottles are easier and that is what she is preferring. But if you can make it 12hrs, you can make it 24hrs. Baby steps, baby steps. Try to...

Re: 18 days old and really need help

Try swaddling her when you nurse her. That may help. I offered my pinky finger for the baby to suck on until he calmed down. Then I took my finger out of his mouth and latched him on. If he got...

Re: 18 days old and really need help

Mommal has given you great advice...but I just wanted to encourage you to keep going. I had a baby just like yours and we had a few really fussy days but we worked through them and he ended up...

    Re: Amoxicillin while breastfeeding...

Both of those are safe. I also had full blown surgery while nursing a new baby and still didn't have to pump and dump. They are using a local(not systemic) anesthesia for the cavities and root canal,...

    Re: Pumping chit chat 3

I have got my pump and all my supplies ready for this little one. I have decided to go ahead and put her in the same childcare facility as Joey. Between clinicals and my internship this fall, I was...
  14. Re: What are your thoughts on taking Isoniazid while breastf

Mine was a positive Mantoux skin test. When it swelled up and showed positive, the doc reminded me that all that means is that I've been exposed to TB and developed antibodies to it. I get a CXR once...
  15. Re: What are your thoughts on taking Isoniazid while breastf

A positive TB skin test does not indicate TB. I have a positive TB test as I was exposed at some point in childhood. So now I have to get a chest x-ray every year. Also, it isn't incredibly easy for...
  16. Re: sensitive gag reflex - just go with a bad latch?

What I told Teal on the phone was to try to work through the gag reflex. Because I let the shallow latch go on and ended up with really low supply and going on domperidone at 8mos. I wish that I had...
  17. Re: sensitive gag reflex - just go with a bad latch?

Teal, call me. You just described Joey to a t.
  18. Re: Eating so often--don't think we can make

You can buy an Angel monitor to place under your baby that will alarm you if your baby stops breathing.

Remember too that tummy sleeping is not the only indicator or risk factor for SIDS :gvibes
  19. Re: Eating so often--don't think we can make

Mama, can you try placing him on his tummy to sleep?? I've even swaddled mine and put them on their tummies. They were right next to me of course, so I could monitor for any issues. My second grunted...

Re: help! shingles, pumping, travel etc.

Umm, your child has already been exposed to the virus AND had the CP vaccine...so why don't you just cover the lesions and nurse her???:shrug Wouldn't that solve all these issues?

Did they give you some vicodin? That is the only way that I was able to make it through the pain:eye

Re: help! shingles, pumping, travel etc.

And if your body isn't used to pumping, it isn't going to be easy to do. You have to train your boobs to be accustomed to the pump. It CAN be effective at draining a breast, but it takes quite a bit...
