    Re: I need to vent

Actually, from what you say, it's possible (in my strictly non-medical opinion) that he's not eating enough. Acid reflux can be aggravated in adults by going too long between meals, I would imagine...

Re: What are the BFing MUST HAVES?

    Boobs!

Actually, the only thing that I absolutely must-have is a boppy pillow. Holding a ten pound baby is hard on the arms, and it only gets worse as they grow!

  4. Re: is my DD breastfeeding too long at a time?

There's no such thing as nursing too long. :) A baby will suck as long as they need to. Some of that time may actually be milk-free comfort sucking!

Take heart... my daughter had marathon 45-60...

Re: Quit use of breast shield?

Just keep doing what you're doing. I didn't get Elisabeth to latch without a shield until she was about a month old or so. Oh, what a wonderful feeling that was! And painful, too. Without the shield,...

    Re: Foremilk and Hindmilk questions

Hindmilk is produced on demand. It's more about how the baby suckles. Initially, when they're thirsty, they suck more quickly and with shorter sucks. This is when they get the thirst-quenching...

Re: Baby due in 4 weeks, have questions

You know, that whole "resting in the hospital" thing is so damn funny. I was more tired in the hospital than I was at home, because someone was in my room every few hours to either stick me or take...
  8. Re: Worried (partial vent and long....sorry)

    1. Does it sound to you all like I have a supply issue?
(note: I have experienced engorgement and leaking. Have been able to
pump as much at 4oz at one time)

    Not to me. Everything...

    Re: Pump Question(s)

Well, it depends. I get more with my Avent Isis manual than I ever did with my dual electric hospital grade rental. I pumped an average of 4-5 ounces per breast with the dual electric, and I get...

    Re: Alcohol and caffeine?

I have more caffeine than I really should these days (in fact, I'm suffering from a withdrawal headache now because I haven't had any all day), and it doesn't affect Elisabeth in the least.

    When...

    Re: No Let Down...HELP

I'm one of those that can't feel let down... every great once in a while I'll get an itchy tingly feeling, but I can't feel it at all beyond that. The only reason I know my baby is getting anything...

Re: Need help with preparation for 2nd baby

Well, the first thing to remember is that pumping is NEVER a good indicator of supply. Ever. I know of moms who can't even pump an ounce who successfully breastfed their babies for two or more years.

    Re: Sore nipples - help

I have found a great way for my husband to bond with my daughter (now four months) is to take one of the other duties, and that be his almost exclusive responsibility. For example, bathtime. I've...

    Sexual arousal

A person on another board I post on had issues with sexual arousal while breastfeeding that really weirded her out, and caused her to stop breastfeeding. She's pregnant again, and wants to avoid...

    Re: I don't like breastfeeding

There are tons of moms who pump exclusively. It isn't necessarily easy, but it IS possible! If you don't have any problem pumping, I'd work on building up a good freezer stash, and then if you still...

    Re: Poop Question

My baby has been having exactly the same thing (she's three months old). I think it's normal. She's been gaining weight normally, and seems just fine.

    Re: Frustrated...

One thing I've found really helps is swaddling the baby. When they're swaddled, they don't seem to mind being moved as much. If I nurse her unswaddled, no matter how sleepy she is when she's...

    GRAH! Overeager latcher...

I've got an interesting problem. My 2 1/2 month old has absolutely phenomenal head control and neck strength... the problem is, she's decided to use this while I'm trying to latch her, which results...

Re: 8 day old throwing up....

Here's a great trick I found to ease your mind about the volume they're spitting up.

Get two ounces of water and pour it on a burp cloth, then try it with just a tablespoon. You'll find that...

Re: Baby wants to BF all the time!!

How old is she? A lot of times babies go through growth spurts that require them to nurse constantly.

I'm actually rather curious about this myself. I very rarely feel letdown at all, but as far as I can tell, this hasn't caused any problems. I'm personally rather grateful that I don't usually feel...

    Re: NOt enough Hind Milk

Do you normally offer both breasts, or just one? I generally only nurse on one side each session, and that seems to help my daughter get enough hind milk.

    Re: Positions

She definitely has great head control (amazingly so for a 2 1/2 month old!) and she weighs 12 lbs 14 ozs, and is 24 inches long. So yeah, she's a good size.
