    Re: Mastis or Just Clogged?

Sounds like a plugged duct. Keep nursing and plan on getting plenty of rest to avoid mastitis. You can use ice after nursing and a warm pack right before nursing. When you get flu-like symptoms...
  2. Re: mastitis/ yeast combo? treatment advice?

No advice for the yeasty beasties, have had mastitis twice though.:hug

Re: SAHM Wants to Go Out of House Untethered

Pump after one of your morning feedings, if possible, since your supply is likely to be at its greatest. It might take a few days or a week for your supply to adjust to the increased demand.
  4. to adjust or not to adjust, that is the question

What has been your experience(s) with adjusted vs. chronological age?

My twins were 5.5 weeks early and the ped has never adjusted for their growth charts or developmental milestones.

Re: newborn with blister on lip?

Both of my LOs had a "sucky blister". Its not as noticeable now and the ped said it was fine.

Re: I have a cold need help.

Yuck. When I had a cold early on into BF, I was told by my hospital's LC NOT to take Pseudoephedrine/Sudafed because it can decrease production. Tylenol/Ibuprofen are okay. Benadryl is too I think,...

Re: EPers - Medela Symphony or Classic?

Switching pumps is a big decision!

I am going to use my pump rental in my taxes, I have a letter from the NICU saying that the kids needed EBM, etc. to include with my return, My tax lady said it...
  8. Re: Baby was in NICU, how do I transition from bottle to exclusively breast feeding?

    Preemie Mom--

Reading your post was deja-vu! My girlies were 34 weeks and I did the breast, bottle, pump routine for 10 weeks before I finally decided something had to change! The routine took...
  9. Re: how often do you nurse your 12 month old?

Here's how things work for us:
I work every other day (5 day out of 14) and pump twice during my workday, at 930a and 2p, I am gone for 10ish hours. We co-sleep for most of the night.
    On days I am...

Re: EPers - Medela Symphony or Classic?

Though not currently an EPer, I used the Symphony for 10 weeks before I stopped pumping and my girls drank from the tap. I really like the two phase feature because after I had already let-down some...

Re: Plugged Ducts - need advice

After a couple plugged ducts and mastitis twice, I swear by Lecithin 1200mg, I think you can take up to 6 a day, but I saw results taking 2 daily. You can get it at CVS or Walgreens. Also, I...

    Re: gassy baby?

I agree with the previous post. My LOs were/are very gassy, but don't seem to be bothered by it. Does he seem okay or uncomfortable?
  14. Re: Preemie, Bottle fed breast milk... is this to much?!

Even if baby is taking too much, fat on breastmilk is much better than fat on formula (according to my LC)

    Re: Pregnant & nursing toddler

Lindsey-- Nice work on being prego and BF the kiddo! The human body is amazing, isn't it? Though I do not have experience in this situation, it seems like unless you have a history of preterm labor...

    preparing for "beyond one"

I have a question about nursing beyone one since I will be at that point with my twins in about a month.

I currently pump 2x a work (about 20 ounces) and my freezer is full of EBM. When I am at...

    Re: Breastfeeding & Dental Health

I am glad someone posted on this! I just mentioned to the ped yesterday that we were still night nursing and now that my LOs have chompers, I was concerned about cavities. He made me feel pretty...

    Re: which came first

I too had a champion boob and a loser boob. I found that by offering the loser first and champion second over the course of many months, they produce almost the same amount now.

  20. Re: Is this still thrush? Any experience with gentian violet?

Sounds like you are doing all the things that should be taking care of thrush. Have you considered nipple vasospasm? http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/mom/nipple-blanching.html

    Re: Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle

    Not sure about the combo.
Fenugreek is taken 1000mg three times daily, sweat and urine should smell like maple syrup.

Re: Milk supply drying up! Help!

Seems like you are traveling down a slippery slope. The more formula you give, the less milk you will produce, prompting you to give more formula!

Have you tried reducing the amount of formula...

    Re: Fenugreek Anyone??

I have taken herbs from the beginning to keep up with my two. I have used More Milk Plus capsules and have recently switched to just plain Fenugreek d/t the cost (MMP is around $35 a month, the...
  24. Re: is it worth getting/renting a pump? and if so, which kind?

I agree with Malleyboo. The amount of milk you can express has little to do with the amount of milk you are capable of making/storing. And every little bit pumped is a little less formula that has...

    Re: Refrigerator storage

I too use Lansinoh bags. I have tried other bags and found them to be more expensive and less spill-proof.
