  1. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

I guess solids will only help if he is interested... But it will happen eventually :)

I do have 1 friend who has nursed 5 children and her 5th just isn't that bothered by eating and has always...

Am so glad it improved for you :)
  3. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

Is he dropping on the chart tho? Babies gain less as they grow so while a newborn might put on an ounce a day that wouldn't be the case for the same baby at 6 months. I don't know enough about...
  4. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

A multivitamin shouldn't do any harm so not sure there is a downside of trying it. How much was the weight gain for the week before you stopped supplements, is there much difference?

    His feeds do...

Re: My 3 month old prefers a bottle.

How much and how often is milk being given in a bottle, is the teat slow flowing and are bottles being given in a paced breastfeeding friendly manner?

Smaller bottles given in a paced manner can...
  7. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

Peanut Butter is what my little girls changed into around 5 months... As long as it isn't pellets it should be fine.

I do wonder if the first day or so he was so used to having a couple of ounces...
  8. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

Have you ever discussed reflux or iron levels with a Paed? I would have thought they would have checked iron levels if they were concerned with weight gain :s
  9. Re: totally consumed--baby only taking bottle

Has your daughter been checked for tongue and lip tie? As these can affect feeding.

I would second having a professional check milk transfer. We had milk transfer issues for the first four months...
  10. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

It'll get easier! We've been fully off supplements for nearly 2 months and now I only get occasional paranoia overy milk! :)

The first little bit is the worst but every day you don't supplement...
  11. Re: Mastitis/plugged duct? Over supply.Help!!

In theory your body should adapt and not make too much, but it is better to feed than be engorged!

Re: 3.5 month old refusing bottle

I do only use it for sips of water tho... If it were breastmilk I would support the cup so none was wasted :p

Re: 3.5 month old refusing bottle

My daughter uses a doidy (hence me knowing about them) and we like it... Yes she gets wet but I figure it's easy to change clothes, and a bit usually soaks the worst of it! Besides it's all part of...
  14. Re: Mastitis/plugged duct? Over supply.Help!!

Try nursing in different positions too. If you can get the babies chin to 'massage' the affected area while they feed it might help clear it too.
  15. Re: Mastitis/plugged duct? Over supply.Help!!

Warmth is supposed to help with plugs so hot flannels or nursing in the bath/shower should help. I would say if you continue to feel like you have flu type symptoms a trip tk the doctor may be in...

Re: 3.5 month old refusing bottle

Doidy cups can be used from 4 months or a normal open up could be used too!

Apparently a doidy cup allows them to lap similar to the breast but as with all cups/bottles it is quite child dependent...

    Re: 4.5mo chosen to bottlefeed?

Kellymom has some great stuff to encourage a baby to bf:
    http://kellymom.com/bf/concerns/child/back-to-breast/

Try to make sure bottles are given in a controlled manner with the slowest flow teat...
  19. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

I think dropping supplements was pretty scary for me and there isn't really anything I can say that you don't already know...

He won't starve himself, he will only gain weight at the rate he...
  20. Re: Sore cracked nipples ... Help please !!!

Are you treating the cracks with anything? Lanolin based cream that you leave on are supposed to help and I had a friend swear by 'breast angels' - silver cup things to help hers heal.

    Try to...

Re: 8 month old with a bad latch?

Agree with the PP about oral therapy, and flipple.

I know you said positioning doesn't help, does that include laid back? ( Just because I don't often see it recommended).

    You've probably tried...
  22. Re: 8mo 3 wks/ night feedings/ solids help!!!

Every baby is different, at 8 months we do solids every meal so 3 times a day, if I didn't she'd only steal my food anyways - and has when I haven't given her anything. We do baby led solids and so...

    Re: Needing some encouragement...

    Hey :)

I know these things can be tedious and harder to do with a distracted on-off nurser, but are you doing things to help keep the latch deep? I.e breast compression, breast sandwich, flipple,...
  24. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

Sounds like he got all the rest from you then! That's great :)

Distracted babies just add to the fun, right?! Gotta love the noises :)
  25. Re: Continuation of weight gain/supply struggle

Sounds like you are doing great :)
