  1. Re: Need to drink water to have let down

I am having such letdown issues! My daughter has gone on repeated nursing strikes for the last 8 months and it has made nursing SOOO stressful for me that I struggle to letdown when I nurse. I have...
  2. Re: Unique Problem - Need Ideas (16m old won't illicit letdo

Thank you, I have been pumping when she refuses to try and maintain my supply. I also still pump twice a day at work and get 3-4 ounces each pump sessions so I think I still have a decent supply. ...
  3. Re: Unique Problem - Need Ideas (16m old won't illicit letdo

And now she is suddenly refusing to nurse at night and in the morning if the milk isn't immediately there. This is out of the blue after nursing great during these feedings for months. She was up 4...
  4. Re: Unique Problem - Need Ideas (16m old won't illicit letdo

Oh, and when the milk slows instead of comfort nursing, she cries and wants her pacifier. :( I've never encouraged this behavior and it hurts that she prefers her pacifier to me.
  5. Re: Unique Problem - Need Ideas (16m old won't illicit letdo

    Hi Ladies,
I have tried the let-down cue method without success. In fact, now I think my letdown cue is my pump. :( My letdown used to be fast, but now it takes 60-90 seconds of constant...
  6. Unique Problem - Need Ideas (16m old won't illicit letdown)

Bottom Line Up Front: For the last 8 months, my 16 month old "expects" the milk to come instantly when she nurses. I have to use the pump to start the letdown, then she will nurse fine (albeit...
  7. Re: I think this nursing strike might be the end...help plea

Wow Mom, your situation sounds sooo similar to mine. We have been dealing with this for months and I always end up pulling out the pump to get the letdown. I often try to wait her out, but she will...
  8. Re: 10 Months baby won't wait for letdown, ready to quit

    Meg,
We don't have any other signs of thrush, and she has been examined by a Dentist so I would think he would have caught it if it were lingering.

She had her tongue and lip tie revisions...
  9. Re: 10 Months baby won't wait for letdown, ready to quit

    Meg,
Yes!! I am in pain. My nipples have been feeling like they did when she was a newborn. I will try putting some lanolin on them and see if working on my mental to do list will help.
  10. Re: 10 Months baby won't wait for letdown, ready to quit

So, we are still limping along and trying to breastfeed. My daughter is scheduled for a tongue and lip tie revision on Monday so we are hopeful that might help too.

    In the meantime, she still...
  11. Re: Nursing Strike v. Weaning at 10 months?

    Gigi,
Your LO sounds a lot like mine. She is also 10 months, nurses for food and not comfort and the last2 months we have been struggling. When your LO won't nurse how does she respond? Mine will...
  12. Re: 10 Months baby won't wait for letdown, ready to quit

    Alandsa,
Your progression sounds a lot like ours, particularly with the super short sessions followed by the on/off phase. I waited until 6.5 months to introduce solids and now, even at 10 months...
  13. Re: 10 Months baby won't wait for letdown, ready to quit

I am sad to report things have gotten worse for us. She refused to breastfeed in the middle of the night last night (latched for 15-20 seconds then gave up, sat up, reached for her pacifier on the...
  14. Re: 10 Months baby won't wait for letdown, ready to quit

    Meg,
Well I tried to feed more based on cues today and it didn't help. First two nursings of the day were great. Then, starting with that third nursing its like a different baby. Refuses to wait...
  15. Re: 10 Months baby won't wait for letdown, ready to quit

And this might be a dumb question, but she has been nursing 6 times a day for the last 5 months. Is it possible this behavior shows up when she just isn't that hungry? I am not sure because she...
  16. Re: 10 Months baby won't wait for letdown, ready to quit

    Meg,
I don't think my letdown is slow, it takes less than one minute on the pump and about the same when she nurses. But she will only latch and suck for about 10 seconds before getting mad and...
  17. 10 Months baby won't wait for letdown, ready to quit

I never thought I would say this, but I am at my wits end and ready to quit. My goal was to BF until 2 years but we just hit 10 months and I don't think I can go much longer. The baby has lost all...
  18. Will a Sippy Cup cause confusion? - 9 Month Old

My 9 month old loves to play with her Sippy Cup and try to drink from it. She gets bottles while I am at work and nurses when we are together. Would complimenting one of her bottle feedings with a...
  19. Re: 8 month old fussy for afternoon and evening feedings

Thanks everyone for all the great advice and encouragement. It really does make a difference. Well, we reduced nursings from 6 to 5 and cut back on solids at dinnertime. It made her stop the...
  20. Re: 8 month old fussy for afternoon and evening feedings

Thank you for the replies and tips. We cut out a nursing session today (from 6 to 5) and she didn't fuss or pop on and off at all until the last feeding of the day. She even waited for the letdown...
