Since amys.mom posted a thread about her DD seeing her "milk" and giving her chest a longing look, followed by mama's mixed feelings about wanting to offer breast again, I weaned shortly after.......

Re: How long will baby forget?

I weaned within 3-4 months time, which was SUPER fast. She was 18 months. Some behavior was exacerbated "NO" and hitting. But there were techniques I used to curb some of the aggression.

    After 3...

Re: Weaning is a struggle. (Abrupt).

I decided to quit completely due to my medications which I don't want to discuss because we've talked enough about that on this forum. She got about 10 seconds yesterday morning, and nothing today....

Re: Weaning is a struggle. (Abrupt).

She's doing great. I introduced bottles with soymilk and a paci at 18 months. It's totally working. A few tough nights but nothing unbearable. She understands the limits now.

    And I understand when...

    To manatee

I want to respond to you because you took the thought and time to care. I'm so busy. I hope I can slow down to give a thoughtful response.

Re: Weaning is a struggle. (Abrupt).

I will take what you said Leslie into consideration. Our house is adequately child proofed but she does need constant supervision

A major side effect from the med is extra naps. SO.....

Re: Weaning is a struggle. (Abrupt).

I agree with (Beth's comment) on the risks on my part while I"m on meds. For that reason I don't want to be on anything more than short term benzo therapy. Like 4 weeks. II'm meeting with my Dr. to...

Re: Weaning is a struggle. (Abrupt).

Maybe for nursing to sleep at bedtime ONLY I will allow her to nurse to her heart's content.

There will still be a small amount of medication in the milk, but since I take it at 8am & 2pm - I'm...

    Weaning is a struggle. (Abrupt).

We are doing it really, really fast. I don't want to slow down because of the meds in my system. I'm taking Class C drugs for breastfeeding and i don't want to risk any more any damage I have done in...

Awww, mommy :hug:hug Maybe give her some extra hugs in the rocker today?

I would avoid exposing myself in front of her,to keep those feelings away, but that's just me..

Didn't you have a similar time several weeks ago where you wanted to offer and nurse again?

IF it were me and it wasn't an actual request, I wouldn't offer..

Re: Introducing EBM in a bottle

That's a really tough one, in my experience. At 6 months I loved the way DD seemed to "wake up", but it was stressful for me because my breast was the only way she seemed to take nutrition. At 2...
  18. Re: Night Weaning Starting Tonight. BTDT?

Yes I did not do it yet. Even though I fell asleep in terrible positions again. I've gotta work on that.

I want to wait until her language is better. I don't think it would go well, and I want to...
  19. Re: Night Weaning Starting Tonight. BTDT?

Yeah when she is getting molars she nurses a LOT at night as well as during the day. I am just getting so sick of the toll it is taking on my body, the falling asleep in awkward positions. Maybe I...
  20. Re: Night Weaning Starting Tonight. BTDT?

noras.mommy how many months was DD when you night weaned?
  21. Re: Night Weaning Starting Tonight. BTDT?

She is 16 months. A typical day looks like this.

    7:30 AM Wake & nurse
    9 AM Nurse
    10 AM Nurse
    11 AM Nurse
    12 PM Nurse
2 PM Nurse down for nap
Sometimes nurse when wake up from nap....
  22. Night Weaning Starting Tonight. BTDT?

BTDT? Tips? What do you wish you'd known then that you know now? ;)

Going to use Dr. Gordon's method. It seems pretty easy - I just nurse her until the milk lets down (like 1 minute total) then...
  23. Re: So....do toddlers really wean themselves??

    Re: do you like nursing?

I like nursing some. Nursing a 1 year old is worlds better than nursing an infant, which I find a-nnoy-ing. All the time that goes into feeding one child is to me one more reason I'm so turned off at...
