Waking up with gas pain for months
I have a seven and a half month old angel and need help finding a solution to his night time discomfort. I have watched him go from being a good night time sleeper before solids to waking up off an on every night for the last couple of months. I have tried everything I can think of and followed the advice of pediatricians and nothing seems to help him. I have only ever breastfed him and he refuses a bottle. He has not quite learned to manuever a cup and mostly just plays with it.
I have cut out all things rice, bananas, sweet potato, carrots, peas, green beans, and winter squash.
We took me and him off of dairy/soy (he was eating yogurt), but that didn't help.
He sometimes has constipation issues, but other times he doesn't. No matter what though, he wakes up throughout the night with gas pain and cannot rest until he "works" it out.
We have been told he has GERD and he is on Previcid. The GI specialist attributed the probelm to constipaion and put him on Miralax, but while this made it easier for him to poop, it did not help with gas. We have tried Mylicon drops and colic tablets, but while they help, they don't do enough. We have done bicycle legs and massage, but like meds it just isn't enough!
This week we switched him to barley cereal and we're mixing in oat bran. We are limiting his other foods to prunes, pear, peach, plum, avacado, and yogurt w/o pectin added.
Please, please if you have gone through this and have any suggestions other than what I have already tried we would be eternally grateful for the help.
