Our pediatrician talked to the head of the neonatalogists, who is pro-bfing.
The issue is NOT extra calories, really. The issue is extra calcium and phosphorous as the babies do their catch up growing to look more like they would have at "term."
He fully recommends using my breast milk with a bit of the formula to boost the calcium and phosphorous. (as opposed to the doc who said I needed to use water and formula).
Since we are not quite fully breastfeeding right now, this is working for us. Our little ones seem to have one good day and one challenging day on bfing. Thank god(dess) for scales!!
