Schaumburg, IL (January 2006) La Leche League International (LLLI) is proud to announce the publication of Hirkani’s Daughters: Women Who Scale Modern Mountains to Combine Breastfeeding and Working. Featuring inspiring stories from employed breastfeeding women in North and Latin America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, the book provides encouragement, information and practical ideas.
The diverse and comprehensive narrative takes a look at the struggles and successes of women who combine breastfeeding and employment and includes:
- What working mothers need to know to combine breastfeeding and employment
- Inspirational stories of women from all walks of life have creatively sought solutions to combine breastfeeding and work
- Why the workforce remains baby-unfriendly
- A look at model workplaces for new mothers—featuring some breastfeeding-friendly employers

A stand-up comedian in California, a nuclear physicist in Bariloche, Argentina, and a pediatrician in Egypt, as well as others from around the world, all share their perspectives on breastfeeding and working. These stories of mothers’ desire to breastfeed will help you understand how workers and employers can both succeed. A special breastfeeding-friendly employer feature highlights small businesses, international corporations, medical industries, and non-profit organizations.
