the reason for starting on breast you left off with???
Common sense would tell me that the breast you start with would be more full than the one you left off with, so wouldn't it make sense to 'empty' the first one instead of the last?
for instance dd took my right side today and refused the left until 20 min later, so shouldnt i start with the right side, not the left
(that i finished on?)
sorry to hog the boards....i have soooo many questions..
Re: the reason for starting on breast you left off with???
Usually, a baby will take more milk from the first breast than from the second because as the feeding goes on they become full. Your breast make milk continuously, so both will likely be "full" again after a couple hours. If you always offer the same side first, you may become lopsided, because the baby will usually take more milk from that side and that breast will then produce more milk than the other. So, it helps to alternate which side you offer first in order to keep production similar on both sides. Hope that made sense!
