Frozen Milk Odor
My husband has noticed that, when he gives my son a bottle, the frozen milk (only frozen ~1 month) has a bit of an odor to it. It doesn't seem to bother my son at all. I don't notice a smell with my freshly expressed milk...is there a reason for the change? Is this normal?
Re: Frozen Milk Odor
Sometimes milk can take on odors from other foods in the freezer. Nothing to be concerned about if baby is drinking the milk fine. The one thing to be on the lookout for is that some moms have excessive lipase that can give the milk a soapy smell/flavor, which some babies will refuse. If that starts happening, milk needs to be scalded prior to freezing (usually the same day that it has been expressed). But it doesn't sound like that's the case from what you describe.
