Hello...it's been awhile since I've logged on, but that just means that me and my little Ainsley have been doing well :) I am proud to say that she is still nursing at 10 months old, and has never had any formula!
I'm posting this question because I have recently started going back to work, and my freezer supply is almost diminished now. My LO only needs one bottle of milk 5 days a week when I'm not there to nurse her. I have started pumping again and haven't been able to produce as much as I used to :( I really, really, REALLY don't want to give her formula, and have been researching coconut milk and want to see other's opinions on it.
I kind of don't want to give her cow's milk, as my family doesn't drink it (no allergies, just for our health.) We drink almond milk instead. Now, almonds are nuts so I know that she can't have that until she's at least 1. I have been researching coconut milk because of the high fat content, and I think it's comparable (if not better) than whole cow's milk.
I'm kinda afraid to ask the pedi about it, just because she doesn't seem pro breastfeeding much-every time I go in for Ainsley's checkup she seems genuinely surprised that I'm still nursing. For some reason I think she'll look at me like I'm crazy if I suggest coconut milk (she told me it was "weird" to give my baby avocado as a first food)
Any thoughts? The only thing that makes me a little nervous is that Ainsley is allergic to bananas (we're pretty sure-she gets a rosy rash on her cheeks when she eats them) and I've read that most people who are allergic to bananas are allergic to latex. I recently read that some people with latex allergies can be allergic to coconuts, although rare.
