My 5 1/2 month son loves to comfort feed also he is nursed to sleep just about every time he naps or goes to bed. Sometimes my husband can walk him to sleep, but thats very rare. Should I continue to nurse him to sleep. My first two were not BF bc I was much younger and had no idea what I was doing, so they would just be rocked or sometimes cry to sleep (which I cant believe now I let them do) My son also co sleeps with us. Also should I not comfort feed him as much, its just that if hes really upset nothing else works.

Hi Everyone,
I just got home from hospital and they told me I have Swine Flu, - I have an 8 wo daughter, - I don't know how such young babies do with the swine flu. And we live in a tiny 1 bdrm place - I stay in a living room, but it won't help not to spread the virus...
Did anyone here had the flu and what did you do with your babies? Did anyone have a baby who got sick with swine flu? What did you do??
I'm praying that she will not get sick...
PS: I decided not to take Tamiflu and continue BF - I wear mask and gloves when bf her.

My daughter was born 10/18. She had poor latch on from the beginning. Got some help from a lactation consultant but still having issues. When I do attempt to feed I know there is milk coming out because I hear her swallowing and sometimes it seems like the milk is pouring out too much for her and she does choke occasionally. Even though milk is coming out it still hurts my nipples. How can I make sure she is getting enough to eat because sometimes she wants to nurse constantly and I'm worried that may be a sign that she is not getting enough milk.

My LO is 3 months old. I have fed on demand, unlimited. She loves to comfort feed to sleep or just upset, which I have felt great about until tonight. But.... my mom watched her while my hubby and I went out. My LO cried the whole time. She did not find comfort in anything my mom did for her. When we got home my mom expressed her great concern about my LO only wanting to BF when tired or wanting comfort. She thought I should not offer my breast when my LO is upset. This does not feel like the right thing to do..... but I do have to go back to work in a month. What should I do? Should I cont to comfort feed?

I have seen a drop in my supply. In thinking about it, I realize that it has been steadily declining over the last few months. I just struggle to pump enough every day to send enough bottles. I have made it almost 2 months further than DD2 and a good 6 months further than DD1 but I wanted to make it a year with this one.
So, I decided to try giving her a bottle of formula at bed time so that I could then pump and get enough for the next day. Tonight was the first time. She took it just fine, and still wanted to nurse a little afterwards. But, why do I feel so bad about it? :shrug I am pretty sure that this will help me make it at least another month or more but...
Please just give me input so that I don't feel so bad.

Addy (13 mos) nurses a lot and eats small amounts of food 4x per day. Recently I gave her a taste of a glass of cow's milk I was drinking, and she LOVED it. She wanted a sip and I didn't think too much of it at the time, but once I saw how much she wanted, I limited it to avoid giving her an upset tummy since she's not used to it. Now whenever I drink milk, she goes crazy wanting to have some. Since she seems to get the vast majority of her calories from BM, and cow's milk isn't as good for her as that, I don't really like the idea of giving her cow's milk. DH says maybe I should just give her cow's milk if she really likes it, and that it's ok at this point if that leads to her nursing a little less. What should I do? :shrug

We will be traveling for Thanksgiving and I will be maintaining my regular nursing and pumping schedule. Right now, my supply is about 4 oz more per day than LO consumes so I freeze at least 4 oz a day if not more. I generall pump after he nurses to empty each breast. While we are home for the holiday I expect this to remain the same, but how do I get the milk back home? This will be the first time we are traveling and I have never transported EBM before.
What are my options? :shrug

I had a post a while back about my right nipple being lacerated. Since then (maybe 2 1/2 months ago) it's healed...and then come back....and healed...and come back. But the pain has stayed. I'm very sad to say that i've grown used to having severe pain when he latches (and of course when he shallows the latch...OW!).

Our latch and position are good. If they aren't, I don't know what i'm doing wrong. He opens wide. He gets a good bit of boobie in there. We don't have thrush. Twice he was looked at for thrush, and both times the pediatrician said he was all clear. I was checked once, and was told that it wasn't not thrush, either.

I can't afford to have a consultant come to my house. I'm not going to stop nursing, no way! But it would be SO NICE to not be in such pain. I'm afraid that my nipple will get so damaged that milk won't be able to pass through anymore. LOL...the damage is that bad. AND because of the damage/lacerations/healing weird only to be cratered again, i've developed poor circulation which is causing even more pain (really only when I get cold). GAH!! What do I do?!

My daughter had "breast buds" for a few weeks after birth- due to my estrogen pediatrician said. They went away and haven't come back and I've been breastfeeding her all along. Yesterday I noticed a lump/swelling right at the nipple of her left breast (under skin, but moves easily). I'm worried and planning to take her to pedi next week....but was hoping for some insight from you all. I read online that my hormones in breastmilk could cause this and its nothing to worry about. Hoping that is true. Any ideas?

I have tried and tried and tried but still can't get him to latch correctly. I'm just so incompetent and he gets so angry at the breast, really fussy. So for the time being, I have been pumping and giving him expressed milk.. The only thing is I don't have a lot of milk. I can only pump 1/2 oz per side which only gets me an oz for each feeding (if I'm lucky). I'm so concern as my baby is not gaining weight... My last resort is supplement which i sincerly don't want to go but I have to feed my child.
HELP! Why is latching so hard? DOes anyone have any tips, I tried the sandwich fold, scooping him from chin and still can't get it right... I'm just dumb and slow!
